Yeah Hezbollah works directly with Iran. Hezbollah's 1996 attack on the Khobar towers in Saudi Arabia that killed 18 US marines was planned and funded in Damascus. Too bad Clinton was too much of a pussy to do anything about it. It just emboldened Iran to carry out more attacks.

They're not AK-47's and M-16's if they aren't full-auto, which those aren't. You have to get a class III firearms license (~1 year and 200 bucks transfer tax), then pay around $10,000 for a legal full-auto weapon. Just to clear that up.

The arms trade is out of control? We need to stop the trade of arms between Iran, Syria, and other terror-supporting nations. This can only be done through force, whether it comes only from the US or other allies who wish to stop the trade of terror. On the other hand, arms trading in this country is expressedly protected in our 2nd amendment, a law important to our protection and our unique freedoms.

You are correct on all counts except that there are tons of semiautomatic-only AK-47s. I know several people who have them, and I've shot one of them.

I've heard (on these boards I think) that's its easy to mod those semi-autos to be full-auto too.

whether we like it or not...terrorist groups are going to get guns...when they do, we should drop bombs on them and kill every single one of them

exactly.

that's why i took my job (well, not terrorists originally. i wanted to kill warlords and genocidal shitheads, then we got into the business of wasting militant islamists, which is also fine by me)

you can get AK-47s locally for $300 and less (and damn if they aren't worth every penny...they're a dream to shoot).

I'm sure they're much cheaper in the majority of hot spots around the world.

Its an arms trade if its to countries we don't support.

Its foreign aide if its to countries we do support.

^^^^ semi-auto AK-47? few hundred bucks

AR-15 (semi-auto variant of the M-16)? a few hundred more bucks...~$1000, give or take (can be more...depends on who makes it and how it's configured).

Class III M-16 (an M-16A2 isn't exactly full auto...it has a 3-round burst setting. an M16A1 is full auto): $15,000+.

don't know how much a full-auto AK-47 is.

It doesn't matter...you can't afford one, and you can't legally buy one (without going through a lengthy background investigation).

^^^ Definitely. They're either leftovers from Soviet-supplied stockpiles or they are cheap knock-offs manufactured by countries like North Korea andn Iran.

I always found it odd how the Katusha rocket was first introduced by the Soviets during World War II. Simple yet suprisingly effective to this day.

A lot of them are soviet weapons, some of them are american weapons that we gave them to fight the soviets with. It was a problem with both countries, they'd give weapons to anyone who asked as long as they were going to cause the other guy some trouble. It resulted in some bad longer term effects, such as large amounts of weapons in the hands of wackos in the middle east and north korea.

This does not explain the problem with them being armed-- it only suggests that some countries percieve that Hezbollah being armed is a problem.

Woah, there, buddy. Israel is not *my* ally. Just because the USA chooses to blindly follow and support Israel does not mean that the USA's individual citizens have to blindly follow and support them. So, by my opinions (being that I do not support Israel in any way), Hezbollah having arms is not a problem if "problem" is defined by them using said arms against the USA's allies. If you wish to narrow mindedly group everyone in America as being an "ally" to Israel (I assume this is the ally you were talking about when you mentioned Hezbollah using arms against our allies), then perhaps my original question was retarded.

I pledge no allegence to Israel, though.

Also, if you listen to what any of these supposed "terrorists" say, you'll find that they claim to attack the USA because the USA supports Israel. I see a pretty easy way out of this.

They aren't really very effective. Yeah, they kill a few people here and there, but that's about it. Considering how many Hezbollah has shot, they're pretty pathetic. Good at terrorizing civilians but of little military value.

(this is a serious TreeTwista post for those of you who think ALL I do is troll)

well for one thing, one of the complaints with the Iraq War was that we didn't have enough allies or international support...and many people are proponents of the viewpoint that "most of the world doesnt like America"...so if those things are true, it would seem important to keep the few allies we still have

However, if it were as simple as "dont be an ally to Israel and the terrorists will stop hating and attacking you" maybe we would consider it

But the fact is its not that simple...some of the islamic extremists that hate us are going to hate us and try to attack us regardless...some of them dont like our freedoms...some of them dont like any non-Muslims...if we said fuck Israel, some of them are still going to hate a country they perceive to be predominantly Christian...I mean these guys have people of all ages willing to blow themselves up to take out anyone they dont agree with...hell they kill other different Muslims...it would be kind of similar in the US to Catholics, for example, killing any non Catholics, including Methodists, Baptists, Lutherans, etc
