trust me, if you have an opportunity to live close enough to work to not have to drive, TAKE IT, take it at the expense of everything else. Buckhead is a great area, everything you will need is there. Dont get suckered in by "but if I live just 5 miles away I can have a two bedroom instead of one, or I will have a bonus room!" LIVE CLOSE TO WORK AS POSSIBLE.

anyone read today's ajc? there was like 5 or 6 fatal shootings this weekend, including a drive by at a club and some kid got shot for egging a dude's car.

shit is getting out of hand.

oh, i'm still in the house fa sho'. reppin zone 6 to the fullest. tried to bttt this thing a few weeks back but it wouldn't let me, too much inactivity.

started a new job in buckhead this spring, getting used to a daily commute for the first time in 7 years. enjoying the summer so far - it's finally cooled off some, and the braves are playing well. can't complain too much!

the alumni viewing is at central city tavern in midtown - decent spot - good beer selection and good burgers with tots

The game will be on FSN locally, so you can watch it pretty much anywhere. But yeah, Central City Tavern ain't bad if you're looking to be around some alums...

Of those. Relaxed/fun. Either big crowds or not. And dancing would be cool, but not required.

Not really lookijg for a club. We'll probably check out the chik-fila bowl parade early that day.

hmmm, no club... might make it hard as that's more my scene...

Theres the Peach Drop gets a lot of people but I think its really lame. Fucking Kansas is playing there this year.

Dad's Garage is a cool little improv place. They are having a special show but its over at 10pm so you could go somewhere else. (friend of mine is a cast member)

The Hyatt Regency downtown usually has a SHITLOAD of people. Basically the entire hotel is one huge party. Its something like $100 each but that includes food, open bar all night, etc. Usually have several different rooms with DJs and live bands (nobody big though). Would probably recommend this if you want to avoid a club. Lots of options, can leave one room if you dont like it and try another. Can just stay there at the hotel or one nearby so dont have to worry about taxis, traffic, etc.

hahah Naughty by Nature and the dude from Live? how fucking random

I will probably go to Quad. By far the best club in Atlanta (its an actual dance club, not a hookup meat market where people are afraid to sweat) and walking distance from my place.

hey guys ill be in Buckhead 4/6-4/7 near Lenox. What's a good classy restaurant in the area (Italian, Seafood, upscale American)?

Portofino (or Portafino, not sure) is a good Italian place in Buckhead with a nice deck for outdoor seating. If the weather is nice I'd definitely recommend going there. Within walking distance of Lenox there's a Palm, a NY Prime, Tavern at Phipps, and some other upscale American places that you could walk to, but nothing terribly unique or interesting. My favorite restuarant in Buckhead is McKinnon's Louisianne, it's an old creole place with lots of seafood options. It's very old school (dark lighting, low ceilings, white tablecloths, waiters are typically 85 or older), but i kinda like that. And finally, the Atlanta Fish Market is good seafood and is fairly upscale, one of those places where they talk about how they "fly in fresh fish daily", if that sort of thing is important to you.

Oh, and there's more than a few fancy steak places in Buckhead if y'all are tying to drop some coin. Bones, Hal's, or Chops are all pretty darn good and within 5-10 minutes of Lenox.

yo! haven't been to the highlander in a couple of years, though i did just see there's a scoutmob for them right now. played trivia there once and thought it was a bit too smokey, but not a bad place otherwise. we've been living at atkins park lately, need to change it up a bit, highlander may be a good call.

highland tap is still my favorite highlands bar. friendly bartenders, good drinks, and a decent jukebox. and never too much of a crowd!

Yeah, The Highlander is my regular bar of choice, there at least once a week probably. Usually in the back room where the bartenders are awesome... I never notice smoke anywhere but other people have said the same

and I voted Yes because I'm not a short sighted moron. FYI - my career is City and Regional Planning, so I'm not just being a dick, it really could have done amazing things for Atlanta but we are now stuck with more of what we've had for the last 60 years
