Are we getting this car? I've never been a Mazda fan, but seeing this thing on Top Gear has changed my mind. 7/17/2006 9:12:59 PM |

haha well thats why i couldn't find anything on google. I wonder why they renamed it.
Looks like I want the 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 Grand Touring. MSRP $30,485 and I doubt I can get much of a deal. Don't know if I want to spend that much on a Mazda. 7/17/2006 9:23:59 PM |

fuck the grand touring model, too much extra money, weight, and bullshit
I saw one at Southern States Mazda a while back. Amazingly, the stock intercooler is hardly changed from the one they put on the Rx-7 Turbo II 20 years ago... POS top mount 7/17/2006 9:38:44 PM |

yes... he is right though this car has the worst heat soak problem ever... get an intercooler asap... it will love you. 7/17/2006 10:03:14 PM |

i also agree.... for the same price you could get the spec b with navigation and a better engine and the ability to swap on used sti parts for cheap and get BIIG POWER7/17/2006 10:31:11 PM |

power seats are heavy... it can be easily a 40-50 lbs. difference for a seat sometimes if you've got motors for lumbar, side bolsters, etc. Anyway it's a waste of 2 grand for that package.
The mazdaspeed 6 has more power and more torque, although a bit slower b/c of the weight, plus it's got a 6 speed. The Legacy GT looks like a Ford Fusion to me. As far as modding goes, well if I wanted an STi I'd get an STi. They cost a similar amount as the Legacy GT.
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedan/112_0602_midsize_awd_sedan_comparison/specs_price.html Legacy GT spec B is about $4k more than a Mazdaspeed 6 with the grand touring package7/17/2006 11:26:41 PM |
sumfoo1 soup du hier 41043 Posts user info edit post |
the new spec b will be out soon, a six speed with idrive and aluminum suspension bits.
[opinion] so.. you'll have selectable fuelmaps/boost with idrive a better feeling car imho a faster car and an adjustable center diff and the engine is mounted right. + boxxers sound cool but thats just me [/opinion]
but the mazda speed six is what they were talking about... good car but they heat soak knock and go into limp mode when you drive them hard for very long. the factory fixes this by raising the knock sensor threshold [opinion]which i don't think is a good idea[/opinion] 7/17/2006 11:40:20 PM |

they didn't "change" the name.
its referred to the mazdaspeed here, and the MPS in europe and australia.
i'm waiting for the mazdaspeed 3 to come out. 7/18/2006 1:23:03 AM |

over the legacy or the mazda...
cause on the legacy for 2k you can get an fpgreen and have more hp than a sti 7/18/2006 11:03:51 AM |

Well the whole point of these cars is to get the turbo/awd car without the boy racer thing, so maybe comparisons with an STi aren't the best anyway 7/18/2006 1:08:32 PM |

Thats a pretty funny comparison here, especially considering that the Mazda 6 and Ford Fusion are just about IDENTICAL under the skin7/18/2006 1:11:43 PM |

Look Sumf00 you god damn cock smoke.
I don't live and die by mag comparisons
But if I were, I'd be pretty hard pressed to find a single one recommending the Legacy over an STi
Especially for a performance enthusiast
Next time you decide to be such a scubby homer, at least pick the attractive car of the lot.

A. thats not a magazine. its subaru of america. B. I was recommending it to someone looking for a similar car. C. By all means get the damned STI if its your thing but i think the new ones all alpha looking are ugly and i like the room and the capability for the legacy to be faster rather than the speed and the inability to make an sti bigger. 7/18/2006 4:10:46 PM |

maybe if they tried a little harder and gave it awd and the 5cylinder volvo motor like the euro fuckus got (they didn't get awd though) then it would be neato 7/24/2006 8:28:10 PM |

^^ edmunds is always slow with their test drivers.
I bet if CD, MT, RT got their hands on one, they could get around 5.7.
I remember when edmunds got a time of like 5.1 for the STi, and something similar for the Evolution. 7/24/2006 11:04:25 PM |

2007 Mazdaspeed3: In Detail (US)
Read the whole thing. But, here are some excerpts:
Quote : | "The 2007 MAZDASPEED3 is one of the fastest and quickest front-wheel drive cars in the world. With a zero-to-60 time under six-seconds and an electronically limited top-speed of 155 mph, MAZDASPEED3 is the class of the sport-compact “pocket-rocket” crowd.
Mazda’s MZR 2.3 DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) turbo-charged engine produces 263 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 280 lb-ft torque at 3,000 rpm in the MAZDASPEED3. " |
How come it is only going to be available as a 5-door hatchback? (looks more like a station wagon) How about a sedan or a 3-door hatchback?

i got to beat the hell out of a mazdaspeed 6 on an autocross course at Zoom Zoom Live -- it was a pretty fun car -- boost was really smooth, interior was really nice -- but it basicly felt like a bigger heavier more expensive, wrx 9/5/2006 3:47:08 PM |
