^ you'll learn soon enough

if i remember correctly, don't they assign you your first semester of classes? most of the 141 teachers will be grad students.

You're going to get a grad student, so it's hit or miss.

As you can see, only 3 teachers have been assigned for 141. Just find a time that fits well and don't worry about the grade distrubution. The grad student will help you out to make sure everyone passes.

ma 141 instructors are usually grad students who don't teach the course for more than a semester or two

Or non-tenure track faculty/post-docs.

As virga mentioned, your courses will automatically be assigned, probably this afternoon. You are free to change them around provided you can find an open section of the same course. Unless there's something really weird about your schedule, I wouldn't try to change too much around your first semester.

Yeah, dist'b only list courses with >20 people or so...

For classes like Calc 1, statistics and few others they throw you in with Grad Students.

If i were you i would just sign up for one that fits well for now, and keep an eye on Reg and Recs to see when they list teachers. At that point possibly try to switch by asking people about specific teachers and consulting grade dist'b.

Also if you are signed up for CH 101 and you have "Brown" switch out immediately.

I HIGHLY doubt that they teach calc I, but if for some reason Dr. Hong or Pittenger (he is actually ThePitts here on TWW) are teaching it, I recommend them... I had them for Calc III and II respectively and they were really good teachers.

Try to avoid Tsynkov or Silverstein if given the opportunity.

You'll more than likely get a grad student with choppy english. They know their calculus, though.

given the chance, take alston or westbrook (cicco? though I don't know if she's teaching anymore, or if she'll teach 141). braymer is good, and stay away from bostic.
