"Breakfast with Hunter" was fucking awesome. it does a really good job of showing that he is who he is ( or more accurately was who he was ), but humanizes him at the same time. it follows him through the mid-90s when he was publishing The Proud Highway and when he was trying to get Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas made into a movie.
it has a lot of private conversations with friends and family, and also follows him along to numerous press events, parties, book signings, etc. his conversation with the clowns who wrote the first script for the fear and loathing movie is priceless.
i'd say if you're a fan of his writing and are curious about the man behind the typewriter, then this documentary will give a better sense of who Hunter S.Thompson really was. the price was kind of steep, but i enjoyed the hell out of it and thought it was well worth it.
haven't watched "When I Die" yet, but it's about the design and construction of the huge tower used to fire his remains from and memorialize him. 7/26/2006 5:23:08 PM |
