We are putting down new carpet in most of the house ...
13x18 room = 234 sf 16x20 room = 320 sf 4x18 hallway = 72 sf --------------------- 626 sf
Empire Today has some stuff with extra-thick padding and a 10-year warranty for $2000. Haynes was offering 3 rooms (probably nasty no-warranty carpet and paper thin padding) for $400. Looking for something in between those prices, must install, I'm willing to haul off the old shit/help move furniture, and don't want to go through every name in the phone book. 7/25/2006 10:27:25 AM |

I remember using the carpet place on Capital next to that chinese buffet across from Vincents. If that makes any sense.
I had a horrible experience and wouldn't reccomend them. 7/26/2006 3:44:54 PM |

trying not to go hardware store ... the cheap stuff they have is crap, and the rest of it (like stainmaster) their prices are pretty well labelled so no need to call for a quote
and hell no on the marble - that shit stains so bad it ain't funny 7/26/2006 4:07:44 PM |

i'm just saying we got some very nice plush carpet with upgraded padding for about $2200 installed for 700+ sqft including a staircase which is priced by staircase and not sqfootage. we got it from lowes. we got in on a 20% off carpet deal though. they run that and 10% off carpet and padding pretty often

the thing about going with lowes/h.d. is they do not have installers. they sub-contract all work out to, of course, the cheapest bidder which usually means shoddy work. i'd recommend a small comany. btw-empire is one of the most expensive in the area. i'd call Batey's. 7/27/2006 9:05:44 AM |

Even if they don't, they subcontract to the same companies you can go directly to... 7/27/2006 9:30:49 AM |
