I am upgrading my current plasma to a plasma that has over the air HD capability.

I have checked out http://www.antennaweb.org/ and see that from my location around the NCSU area I can get CBS, Fox, ABC, NBC, WB, & UPN all in the UHF band within a 20 degree, medium-range antenna direction.

I will be on campus TV service this year and was wondering what would the deal be with my HD programming. Would I still be able to get the HD over the air easily? Does the on-campus provide HD capabilities for programming where programs, such as TNT, offer HD "where available."

yes you can get it, depending on if you can point the antenna in the needed direction, and no ncsu doesnt offer hd content

Im living on the Greek court so I should be able to bolster an antenna on the top roof in the direction. Appears that all the HD OTA stations are within a 20 degree direction so a uni-diretion antenna (cheaper) would be okay.

Anyone have experiance with HD OTA in the Raleigh area? What are your thoughts about the quality and consistency? I need to milk my corporate discount while I can to purchase this TV so I can deal with not having the full range of HD programming for about 6 months.

a friend has it over at ivy commons (ie right near centennial campus and frat ct). he gets good reception with the combo rabbit ears/ dish-looking antenna most of the time.

i live in wolf creek witch has a ghetto ass cable system that has no HD. With the antenna, i could pick up all the networks crystal clear and I only spent 43 bucks on it. The only one that flickered a bit was ABC, but I could adjust the antenna a bit and it would be clear.

I live in North Raleigh (Stonehenge/Leesville area), and use a Terk HDTVa indoor amplified antenna from radioshack and get almost every station with at least 26dB.. and the antenna has to go through three walls and through a wooded area that's south of my apartment. I have to rotate the antenna to the north to pick up PBS/UNCTV, and UPN doesn't come in as strong (since it's at half power)..

If you live near state.. you're only like 10 miles from the 3 broadcast towers (which are behind the new White Oak shopping center in Garner), so the HDTVa from Radioshack will work just fine in picking up OTA HD signals. No need to mount an antenna on the roof.

before i upgraded my box with time warner, I used an antenna to get terrestrial HD broadcasts. Fox, ABC, CBS, UNCHD, and NBC were all I got, but they all were perfect. I'm all the way out in Morrisville, too.

I had the big Terk square antenna from Best Buy. I just had it in my living room to see how it worked and most of the channels were fuzzy, so I took it back. It would have probably worked great if I would have put it on the roof. (I live off trailwood btw).

Anyways, which particular antennas did yall use?

channels were fuzzy?? haha.. that's impossible with digital OTA.. it's either a clear picture or no picture.. analog OTA on my triangle Terk antenna do come in fuzzy when I have it aimed perfectly for digital reception. But I'm sure i can get those channels to clear up if I wanted to..

sweet, thanks for the replies people. I am going to use the antenna included with this TV and see if it gets good reception, then will take it from there. Glad we are in a good HD OTA market.
