I've been waiting for these boxes since the ones that TWC offers are utter crap. Loud harddrives, pixelating recordings, lock ups, etc.

the FCC will get involved before the series 3 comes out anyway.. and since the TiVo isn't a bidirectional digital STB, all providers are required to provision cablecards.

as much as i tout Time Warner over satellite, i'm starting to get kinda pissed off at their attitude towards "current customers". they go head over heels to get new customers but once you are one, you're screwed.

another example: other markets get blazing fast RR speeds but we're still stuck here with $44.95 / month for only 50 kb/sec upload speed. wtf is that?

Time Warner in San Antonio upped speeds from 5Mb/384kb to 7Mb/512kb for standard.. and 10Mb/768kb(??) for Premium to compete with Verizon FIOS which is still a better deal since they offer 5Mb/2Mb for $39.95 and 15Mb/2Mb for $44.95

I thought the whole point of cable card was that it would make whatever device work?

How would they keep the tivo from functioning if it has a valid card?

i think what they mean is they do not want to get in the business of supporting any random equipment that uses thier cablecard -- but they will provide you with a provisioned one to use
