Would somebody care to explain why we have to have official threads for every video, every classified, etc.? With the wide scope of possibilities for things for sale or videos, why constict ourselves with arbitrary bounds? Even more amazing is why this is enforced so strictly when we have threads that go way off topic, and many useless threads popping up every day?

Venting some frustration...

i ultra wholeheartedly agree, but since that fucking retarded video thread has been posted, nobody can post anything or it gets locked. 4 or so years we had videos that were posted individually not bothering anyone.

obviously if you want to post a video you want it to be noticed, which it will not if it's in the 20 page thread. same thing with classifieds.

Seriously, that one guy wanted to discuss that video. How the fuck are you supposed to discuss a video when it is lost in a video thread.

The video thread should be a depository for "neat" videos you want others to check out, but if there is a video you want discussed that is more than valid for a thread.

from a database point of view, while it's easier to index the headers of fewer threads, it becomes much harder to search for individual posts, by the nature of the volume of data you have to recurse to search them. from a diskspace standpoint, the difference is negliable between individual threads and a consolidated one. so really, it's an assinine policy. individual threads isn't like getting a new toolbox for every different wrench or even type of wrench, as it may seem to our uneducated moderators, but just moving away from jamming every size and type socket, wrench, or extension in the same drawer with no regard for standard, metric, the drawers capacity or what have you.

ya know what? i just typed the reasoning behind why we need these threads but i said fuck it and deleted it since i re-read the thread and noticed some of you cocksuckers talking shit. the videos thread stays 'cause i like it that way. i don't give a fuck what it does to some fucking database. i like my shit neat and in order and this is the way the garage will continue to be. keep posting those fucking video threads and ill keep locking them. keep fuckin with me and ill start suspending over that shit too. i feel like i'm pretty fucking leinient around here but the one thing i try to do (clean up the garage) and y'all bitches gotta whine and complain 'cause you can't have your one fucking thread of a bullshit video that you think is cool but everybody else saw 4 years ago.
