Read the books a few years back. Movie's coming out sometime around December. Hope they don't butcher it. This's the only link I could find to any working video.

http://www.mypartypost.com/watchvideobig/2785/ERAGON_intro_Video

Anyone found any other previews?

John Malkovich..

i saw the video game of this movie at SD comic con... didnt know it was a book/movie though so i was wondering if the actors names listed on the poster were just doing voice acting for the game or what.

when did IMDB change to add all the pictures and mini pictures next to each actor on a project?

Hey isn't that the book where a young boy, who does not know his father, is raised by his uncle on a farm, the uncle dies because the boy comes into contact with something the evil overlord wants, and then the boy is befriended by an old man who teaches him the lost ways of an ancient group of warriors?

No, wait. That was Star Wars.

Oh I'm sorry

Are you trying to make a point that a storyline has been reused?

You know, the one where there's a Hero and a villian and then epic climax where one destroys the other?

You know, the bases of all human storytelling.

Also, please 2 point out where in Star Wars luke vulcan mind melded with a giant fucking dragon.

i saw the trailer awhile back and it looks fairly decent. however, the books weren't exactly my favorite. the storytelling just did not flow nicely, in my opinion

he was nineteen when he wrote it.

the sequel isn't as good, though still read-worthy

I believe it was published when he was nineteen, but he started writing it at 16. I really enjoy his books, and you can really see his style evolve as you read them. And if you look at the authors that inspire him, you can see some of all of them in his works. The books are definitely novice work, but I enjoy reading stuff by a guy who is younger than me and can admire how far he's come.

^I felt the second one was better. His writing style improved greatly and you get more in-depth with the characters.

I'm pretty pumped for this.

You can definitely see his writing improve between books 1 and 2. For instance, almost all of book one is written from the prospective of Eragon following one single story arc while book 2 alternates between characters and multiple side plots. Its not the best fiction, or fantasy, but its a very enjoyable read.

i dunno about the storyline...played the demo on xbox360...good graphics didnt like the angles...but anyway, could they have a less original name than Eragon?

HEY LETS COME UP WITH A GOOD DRAGON NAME

hmm Dragon Dragon Dragon....Cragon? Bragon? Aragon? Eragon? Fragon? Eragon??? Ok!

Eragon isn't the Dragon's name, it's the main character's name (the 16 year old male).

from the commericals it seems sorta generic-looking to me

like someone upgraded a made-of-SCIFI movie with somewhat better actors and much better CGI

No, I thought I was making the point that he pretty much just merged Star Wars into the Lord of the Rings universe and changed a few of the names around. Hell, he even left one of the names 90% intact.

I'll come out with a book about this dude that lives on a desert planet and they have a legend about some Muajib character. They will also trade slice because it helps them wrinkle space. If I get sued I can just say... "We're cool... nothing more to see than a good and evil story." But then I'm not 16, so no one will look past all that.

Oh, maybe I could swing it if I throw in some midicalciums somewhere in there so no one can point to one true source.

If you came up with a rip off of Dune, you'd be left with Star Wars basically.

I won't get into it because I don't want to spoil Dune for those who haven't read the whole series, but it's pretty obvious.

Saw a pre-screening. The movie is trash. Jeremy irons is good, but has to deliver some shitty lines at times. Other than that, and the really well done dragon character, the movie is terrible. I almost fell asleep half way through and would have really regretted paying to see it.

getting horrible reviews, like 3 positive and 21 negative last i checked on RT.

one guy said "19 year old wrote the book but it seems a 12 year old wrote the script." or something like that.

The dragon was done surprisingly well. Very lifelike, aside from that retarded mind-voice they gave it.

And that was about the only decent thing the movie had.

jbtilley, What the fuck are you talking about? The coming of age hero story is older then fucking movies themselves. Not to mention the plethora of shit Star Wars was ripped from. Don't be the idiot that repeats shit read on other message boards as your own idea.

That being said, Eragon "The Movie" has got to be the worst sequence of events ever captured by a camera. I mean Jesus Christ, the plot isn't at all that complicated, why do you have to cut out half of it and basically rewrite the entire story?

Its as if they read an Amazon.com synopsis and converted that into film.
