Didn't know you could read Arabic.

Anyway, he is a missing IDF soldier (not of the recent spate; he has been missing for a decade or two).

I hope he is dead.

Wait, so the detectives are debating whether or not they are actually going to charge him with drunk driving?

That's ridiculous.

This is at least the second time Gibson has been stopped for drunk driving, although a 1984 incident occurred before the he reportedly began attending Alcoholic's Anonymous meetings in the 1990s. E! Online said Gibson took a break from his career 20 years ago to handle his difficulties.

Take his license, fine him, give him community service, 30 days, whatever the law is.

He should know better.

"MALIBU, CALIF. - Mel Gibson apologized Saturday for belligerent behavior and for saying what he called "despicable" things that he does "not believe to be true" when he was arrested here on a drunken-driving charge the day before.

But Gibson, in a statement, stopped short of addressing claims that he made virulently anti-Semitic remarks to an arresting officer, as described on a Web site that posted several pages of the sheriff's report."

What's up with all these stars goin' cuckoo all over the place, anyway? I'm speaking, of course, of Tom Cruises's moonbat performance on the _Today Show_, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's African adventures, and now Mel Gibson's alcohol-induced spew.

These celebrities and others need to get somewhere and be still--maybe try reflecting and focusing on their craft or counting their money. Any of which, I'll wager, would produce a better result than what we've been seeing.

^One thing that happens is that they get so ridiculously successful that they start to wonder why they got successful. Some of them actually believe that it was fate, that they are in the position they are in because they are supposed to change the world and give back somehow.

i have little to no sympathy for celebrities when they fuck up

if they want to be in the limelight, they are going to be held to higher standards than everyone else, that's just the way it is. nobody forced them to accept this, they were ordinary people who decided to go for fame and fortune, and now they are stuck with the consequences. boo fucking hoo.

mel gibson is an asshole and i hope he gets in way more trouble than the average joe who gets a DWI. it's not like he couldn't afford a cab, a private limo driver, or even a helicopter ride home-he's a rich jerk who's old enough to know better. peddling a film like the passion of the christ is just the icing on his homemade cake of hypocrisy as far as im concerned. he may 'own malibu' and be able to buy his way out of this, but i hope the film going public is smart enough to realize what a dick he is, and as a result, his hollywood career is crucified.

Question: I heard today on some morning talk show that "Gibson said anti-Semitic and sexist things"

What did he say that was sexist? I'm certainly not excusing his salisburyness, but I wanted to know if that was just tacked on for added fun.

Punish the guy as the law requires, sure, but it kind of disappoints me that his career already seems to be taking a bigger hit than a lot of other celebrity criminal douchebags have. Then again, I suppose it's too early to judge that.

What are the requirements for producing a movie?
What's to keep the producer from mandating a role for him/herself in the film?

i dont support any of gibson's actions in this incident, except for his apology.

that said, people act like he's the only celebrity to do this in a while. a DUI? come on, nearly every rock star on the planet has a couple of those. anti-semitic comments and sexist comments? if that's enough to warrant all this mess... wow... a lot a tww'ers would be hanged with him

punish him fairly like everyone else and move on

The guy drove while drunk.

"Fair" would be significant jail time. Instead he's going to have his lawyer get the case dismissed.

Which is what everyone who can afford it does. This is why we need harsh-ass drunk driving laws.

^

California has pretty harsh-ass drunk driving laws. It also has a rabid criminal justice system that is used to dealing with people who have money.

But seriously, there's not much you can do in a practical sense to someone who has so much money, he can fight the case for months and months, and all the way up the appeals ladder.

50 years in an ultramax pound-me-in-the-ass Federal pen.

^ Fair "like everyone else" means no jail time at all.

It wasn't really aimed at you, though. More at the fact that drunk drivers typically aren't given severe-enough punishments.

gotcha.

i think they should do time, at least a few days or something, actually. i'm just saying he should get whatever laws say, even if the laws aren't as strong as they should be. perhaps the laws need to be fixed up
