I read something about the Marlins, along with every other team, being interested in Soriano and willing to trade away like 4 top pitching prospects

^Why would Florida do that?

They have NO chance to make the playoffs this year. They usually dump talent like Dontrelle will be soon probably.

I wouldn't say no chance...they are 6.5 game out of the wild card, but considering all the people that think they are in the running, they are no more crazy than most teams

here's the article: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/baseball/marlins/sfl-soriano31jul31,0,7195538.story?coll=sfla-sports-marlins

It's not a done deal of course yet. WEEI is a sports talk radio and it's on the Globes website.

Reportedly the Braves offered him for Crisp, Hansen, and Lester but they are trying to hammer something out since the Sox were unwilling to trade Lester... The Sox are also working on a deal for Julio Lugo to play second if Loretta is dealt...

When you say that someone is "reporting it" that usually mean it is a done deal.

Quote :
"Sox, Braves had talks about Jones
The Lawrence Eagle Tribune's Rob Bradford reported on Boston sports radio station WEEI today that the Red Sox and Braves on Sunday had talks about bringing slugger Andruw Jones to Boston. Bradford reported that the Braves had asked for Jon Lester, Coco Crisp, and Craig Hansen in return for Jones (who is hitting .273 with 25 homers and 91 RBIs), and were turned down by the Red Sox. The deal would have left a gaping hole in the Sox rotation, though in theory the Sox could have gone out and acquired another pitcher. Jones is making $13 million this season and is under contract to make $13.5 million in 2007."

That makes me think it's definitely not going to happen.

Olney just said that the Braves asked again for Crisp and Hansen + a prospect (Sox won't trade Lester).

^ yeah, my bad. I'm just typing out rumors I hear that seem serious.

Clemens also wants to be traded to Boston, but there is a situation in Houston where no one wants to upset the town.
-Clemens doesn't want to publicly ask for the trade and piss people off
-The Astros don't want to trade him and make it seem like it's their idea.

stalemate=the rocket probably staying.

I'm just thrilled that the Mets FINALLY have a GM worth a damn. No stupid desperation moves the last 2 years... I'm fine with the team as is.

No NL team can beat us in a 7 game series and I'll take my chance against anyone in the AL with the pitching experience in ONE 7 game series. Anything can happen and the team is still young enough to compete for a long time...

I hate the Dead Sox but they'll probably pick up a high powered pitcher and a underrateed bat before the next 2 hours are up.

They need that to stay alive in the AL.

However if the White Sox and Angels don't do somthing they may just miss the playoffs.

i don't necessarily agree that the Twins and White Sox HAVE to make a move. the white sox have a great team with excellent pitching and hitting. they just need to get back on track.

the twins need to make a move. they're playing great ball right now with what they have, but to be a serious contender they need a big bat in the line-up to compliment morneau and mauer.

Twins I feel can not make a move and out muscle the defending Champs for that WC spot. However can they beat the Yanks or Red Sox? maybe not. I would agree in saying a BIG BAT wouldn't hurt them.

Now the White Sox need help becuase they can be out muscled and cannot beat the AL east. The Tigers may be long gone so they need to refocus on getting back on track for the WC.

Hughes for Lidge. Who needs a farm system anyway?

The Yanks have nothing to offer for him that will beat Blalock and they turned down that one.

^^ Buster just said NO

"A great mystery still surrounds Alfonso Soriano, who's going somewhere -- we just don't know where (and no, he isn't signing an extension with the Nats -- "no chance of that,'' someone in the know said). What we do know is that the field has narrowed to three teams: Angels, Dodgers and A's.

I hear San Francisco is close to acquiring A.J. Pierzynski for Liriano, Nathan, and Bonser. Apparently the Twins want to give some kid named Joe Maeur a chance to catch everyday.

I think this deal might favor the Giants. How about you?

I'm over it. He's on the DL and is going to have a career of rotator cuff and labrum problems. Book it.

** Kip Wells to Boston. Not that anyone gives a shit about him.
