Why is it that we can't have a logical discussion here? I would understand if all the bickering back and forth was taking place in chit chat but it makes me kind of sad that there isn't a more focused board within TWW for an intelligent discusion. A lot of these topics I feel strongly about, and would love to have a real debate on, but it doesn't seem possible under the current circumstances.

i thought about making a wolfweb round table type of aim chat thread, i figure with all of us on aim it could work, but the 2 reason i didnt are because i figured the same old lame trollers who try to troll me every time like its going to make me quit tww any sooner would start their same old shit, plus how do you regulate an aim convo

Maybe I'm just getting old but I've found that if a thread in here manages to get interesting, two posts later the whole thread will skew off-topic because of a troll and someone trolling a troll to the point where no one remembers what was going on.

Oh well. That'll teach me to stop looking to TWW for intelligent debate.

Suspend Treetwista, Randy, cxmai, and GGMon, and the SB would start containing some actual discussion.

Why TheDuke can't justify suspending these people is beyond me. Two are definitely alaises, one probably is, and Tree has admitted to intentionally fucking up threads.

Because some people are too chickenshit to spend time making thoughtful replies to important questions for fear of being flamed or trolled indefinitely. You may not be aware of this yet, but having message board posters call you an idiot, or something more caustic, is just about the worst hit your ego can actually take. As such, most present day Soap Boxers prefer to snipe at people personally and at strawman arguments, usually with only a sentence or two. It's tough to fit a cogent argument on complicated issues into that kinda space, which is why we have the problem you see before you.

It's so much easier to just "know you're right" instead of submitting your own ideas to the scrutiny of others and learning from the replies. Anti-intellectualism survives on this tendency...
