I'm looking for a new church thats got more of a casual atmosphere, that involves music (contemporary pref) within the service.

anyone know of where i should go
- im not specific denomination other than that I'm a Christian.

I know providence is pretty casual and definitely has contemporary music in it's services. Not my cup of tea, but it seems to fit the bill you described

Hope Community Church in Cary is very casual and contemporary. A ton of my friends go there and they all like it. I switched to a different church because I wanted something smaller with a deeper focus. But Hope is definitely solid for a laid back church atmosphere. If I were comparing it with Providence, I'd say that Hope is an awesome place for new Christians/ people who are turned off by traditional conservative worship and Providence is a place for Christians who want to dig a little deeper spiritually.

^Grace Community is pretty nice too. I've met some people from there and they seem pretty solid. My church is right next door to them.

i dont know what the name of it is, it is in Raleigh, one of my college friends finally got me to go to church after three years of trying(i went to Raleigh for a interview and i stayed the weekend, couldnt use the "i dont have time, dont have the clothes, I want to sleep late, etc excuse) Anyways, it is in a huge building, they took over some old hotel/motel, remodeled it, it is huge. Alot of college age people go, and just out of college people. If you wanted too, you could just wear normal clothes....it is catered toward the college crowd or the just graduated crowd. Mainly the noon services is catered to college students, the morning one is the dressy service

^thats providence.

and oh yeah, just in case you're new to the area, steer clear of the Triangle Church between Durham & Chapel Hill.

When I was in Raleigh I enjoyed going to this church. It is down near apex... Triangle Community Church (not the same as the Triangle Church!)

^^^there aren't any noon services, but the 11:00 service is actually the most traditional of the three, with the choir and more hymns rather than contemporary praise and worship songs. but even the 8:00 and 9:30 services aren't dressy. there are people there that wear shorts/jeans/t-shirt/whatever.

however, there is a "college service" at 11:00 in the delta lake center behind the main building and the bowling alley that is very contemporary and is probably what you attended.

and i agree with stantheman's assessment of hope vs. providence

i go to providence and i like everything about it.

Take a look at the website, it's unlike any other church in the area I know of...in a very good way. They're very accessible.

yeah, i know. hope chapel is constantly being confused with hope community.
I guess the time I went to providence, it must have been a rare old people day, because I went with my aunt when I was younger (fanatical southern baptist) and everyone was dressed up, the music wasn't contemporary, and the only difference between it and say, hayes barton, was that it didn't have pews.

i recommend the first service if you can get up for it -the 2nd is pretty crowded most days - and once the kids come back for school it's going to be really crowded (although they are working on expanding)

become Catholic and go to one of the "life teen" masses, or as I disparagingly call them, hootenanny masses.

Raleigh First Assembly of God, off of Blue Ridge. A pretty good mix of contemporary and traditional.
