lowes or home depot.
otherwise you will have to get a 4x8" sheet from Plastics and Fiberglass Co. on Capital Blvd, which will cost you a LOT more. 8/7/2006 5:13:29 PM |

How possible would it be to make a beerpong table out of plexiglass/acrylic? Would it even be worth the cost? 8/7/2006 7:31:54 PM |

if you use the right adhesives and have clean cuts you could make a kickass pong table mucho $, but you could get some hella thick acrylic so there's no deflection

Talk to the really cute bartender at East Village (Emily), tell her Phil said "hi", and ask her about it. Her dad runs a business making plexiglass I think... 8/7/2006 7:51:20 PM |

for those of you looking for smaller amounts, go to Plastics and Fiberglass on Capital Blvd. They have overruns and scrap bins with quite a few really nice pieces, you can pick up for 10c on the dollar usually, especially if you have your student ID.
Piedmont Plastics is another good local place, it's generally a bit more expensive because they dont keep much scrap.
For framing, you want probably 2-3mm acrylic which wont be too bad, to make anything structural, you'd want like 1/2-3/4" for a table, which will run you a couple hundred bucks for a decent size sheet.
FYI, dont go in either place asking for "plexiglass", its the #1 way to show them you have no fucking clue what you are talking about. You want Acrylic. 8/7/2006 11:16:16 PM |
