I currently drive a 1997 Nissan pickup in o.k. shape, but needs some work (speed sensor, clutch, new tires). Rather than put $800 into fixing that stuff just in time to drive around Wisconsin with a RWD pickup for 8 months of winter I'm thinking it may be time for a new car.

Thinking something small and sporty(er), 2dr, hopefully FWD to help in the crappy weather, manual transmission, and decent gas mileage (my truck gets 23 on the highway, wtf???). Probably looking to spend $10000 to $15000, maybe as high as $18k list depending on what I can get for my truck. No more than 40k miles, 60k if it's a very reliable brand

Thanks!

My car seriously....

2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, 58,000 miles, mechanically perfect, always run 93 and run mobile 1 synthetic 5w-30 every 3,000 miles.

FWD, and gets 32mph with the I/H/E.

$11,000 with the extras. only reason im selling is cuz my dad is giving me his envoy, so i can tow my bike and jet ski. I love my car, and its a great combo of comfort/sporty/functionality.

Can't be that slow - 0-60 in 7 seconds stock - with intake and exhaust as well as all that other crap like headers and a carbon fiber (haha) hood

besides, i'm not going for hella fast here - speedier than my truck, reliable, good mileage, and fun to drive are the priorities

Ok, Sentra SE-R Spec-V.

What else would fit in that description? I'd much rather spend around $10k-$12k on this... once student loans kick in I have a feeling life is going to suck.

Yeah WTF is this? Whoever told you that is an idiot. My engine has 255,000 on it and I have I/H/E and run full synthetic (mobile 1) and I change it every 10k or so.

For you I'd suggest the SE-R if you raised it to stock suspension height, or a used WRX. I have no doubt you could find one in your price range. Or you could look for a 2000ish GS-R they're reliable as hell and quick as well.

Well, the carbon fiber hood and the hold down pins wouldn't be my first choice for mods (or even my last), but each to his own...

Well it was free, and my other one had some small dents on it...so i figured what the hell, but i prob wouldn't do it again, and i would never pay for one

hey man, it's cool. whatever you like. i bet you got one hell of a sub box in the trunk to compensate for the lost weight from the hood, too.

Sentra SE-R Spec-V and sub 7 sec. 0-60 sounds slow just because of the SE-R and Spec-V, but I think it has the same engine as the 2.5 altima with less weight. I'm quite happy with my 2.5 altima but a 3.5 se-r would be sweet

same engine, but the altima and base SE-R are rated for 165hp, the spec-v has slightly differnt fuel mapping, and different exhaust to get the 175hp stock

Audi A4 wouldn't be a bad choice either.
