I've got a whole binder of stuff that I need to basically copy although I'll have to edit some of the stuff. Rather than retype it all, is there a way you scan in everything and then get Word to recognize the print so that you can edit it?

Is that something built into word or do you need a seperate program?

You need a separate program which communicates with your scanner and scans the physical document into Microsoft Word. The programs are generally called Optical Character Recognition (OCR) programs, and usually aren't cheap.

Ask your IT guy to figure out a solution for you. If you don't have an IT guy, ask a co-worker/supervisor how the task has been done previously.

that's what I did when I was a legal intern and it was a bitch... it's pretty decent but doesn't catch everything.

Bleh, got ahead of myself, either it needs to communicate with your scanner, or it needs to take documents you scanner sends and automatically put them in a .doc format.
