"Vikings' Koren Robinson Arrested
(WCCO) St. Peter, Minn. Police arrested Vikings' wide receiver Koren Robinson late Tuesday night on suspicion of drunken driving.

Robinson was arrested around 11 p.m. during a traffic stop on Highway 169 in Mankato, Minn.

St. Peter Police Sgt. Loren Jansen said Robinson is being held for driving while impaired and is in the Nicollet County Jail.

Jansen said Nicollet County Attorney Mike Riley would handle the formal charges Wednesday morning.

Robinson was arrested on his way back to the Vikings' training camp at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Players were expected to report back to their dorm by 11 p.m. They had Tuesday off after a 16-13 exhibition loss to Oakland Monday night at the Metrodome.

Robinson, 26, is in his second season with the Vikings. He had a storybook season with them last year, emerging as the team's most dangerous receiver and making his first trip to the Pro Bowl, as a kick returner. The Vikings rewarded him with a new three-year contract in March that included $5.5 million in guaranteed money.

He spent 28 days in an alcohol treatment facility last year after being cut by the Seattle Seahawks for several reasons, many of which Robinson has attributed to alcohol abuse. He was in treatment during training camps last season and signed with the Vikings shortly after checking out.

In July, Robinson said in an interview with the Associated Press that he knew he'd always be under scrutiny as a recovering alcoholic. He acknowledged that he was taking some relapse prevention classes in preparation for the NFL season, when he said he would have little time to work on maintaining his recovery.

ahaha.

Loser.

How many chances can you get? I felt bad for him the first time, and the second, and then when he went to rehab...

but my sympathies are now done. I'm tired of hearing about millionaries who play sports for a living that cant keep the fucking bottle out of thier mouths. Let me get a fucking chance to catch a ball for $5.5 million guaranteed. 26 years old, and a three time DUI having, kick returning probowl drunk.

you make me

uhhh, you are full of shit then.

I havent had the chance to play in the NFL

dont give me tha crap that we all have the same opprtunites, becasue we dont.

He is a very athletic guy, who, based on his talent in that sport, was able to make it to the NFL.

Now look what all that talent got him....a one year suspension from the NFL.

AHAHAHHAA.

my point, is that there are plenty of people that work hard and get to the nfl. people that make it on something other then just pure talent. i dont know korens past, so i dont know if he worked hard or not....but don't act like you weren't given the opportunity to work hard and succeed at it if you had really wanted to. maybe you did and maybe you failed...or more likely, you probably didnt, so you decided to just bitch on a message board. you dont need any talent or skill to do that.

driving while impaired doesnt mean DUI. he could blow like .01 and that be "impaired"

he probably isnt allowed to drive after drinking, period and that's what he violated. i don't think it's a huge deal, but it will probably be played up more that it needs to be because of his past.

i mean driving while impaired, i think that's somethin they'd nail an underage drinker with if they blew anything at all. driving under the influence is the nasty one.

"Koren Robinson is in trouble again. The embattled Vikings wide receiver was arrested late Tuesday night on suspicion of drunken driving and is being held at Nicollet County Jail in St. Peter, Minnesota. Robinson, who was apparently headed back to Mankato, the site of Vikings training camp, was arrested at 10:46 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, and multiple charges are pending. There has been no comment yet from the Vikings on this matter, however, KoRo faces a possible one year suspension from the league because of this arrest in light of his past substance abuse problems. He was suspended four games in 2004 for violating the league's substance abuse policy and was released by the Seahawks the following summer.

This is a sad story, but it really comes as no surprise. KoRo appeared to have turned his life around, and the Vikes even gave him a fat, three-year deal. He was locked in as the team's No. 1 wide receiver, but that will change now that the league will likely give him a one-year vacation…and one has to wonder whether he would ever be able to resume his career after that. This really hurts an already-undermanned Vikings offense, and assuming KoRo is out for the season, moves Travis Taylor and Troy Williamson into the top two spots on the wideout depth chart. We'll have more on this story as it develops; stay tuned."

Here's a bit more info I got from a fantasy football newsletter. I know they guy has a contact he works with in MN so it is probably pretty accurate:

Quote :
"
Big news out of southern Minnesota today - according to the Star Tribune, Vikings wide receiver Koren Robinson is in the Nicollet County jail accused of a long list of crimes starting with drunk driving.

In addition, Robinson is accused of fleeing police, reckless driving, speeding and driving without a valid license.

Innocent until proven guilty, Robinson, has not yet been formally charged, but is said to be in jail this morning and will have his first court appearance this afternoon.

Robinson, only 26, has a well-documented alcohol problem including an arrest for drunken driving in May 2005 and a league suspension for violating the NFL substance abuse policy.

Prior to this situation, the Vikings (fantasy value) depth chart at WR featured a log jam after Robinson and looked as follows:"

Really sucks . I was hoping KRob had this stuff behind him.

Quote :
"Troubled wide receiver Koren Robinson has crossed paths with the law yet again. The Vikings No. 1 wideout was arrested late Tuesday night by police in Mankato, MN, the home of the Vikings training camp. After leading police on a high-speed chase over approximately 13 miles of highway and city roads, Robinson was picked up and booked on numerous charges, including drunken driving, fleeing police, reckless driving, speeding, and driving without a valid license, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Robinson, who made the Pro Bowl last season as a return man and was expected to be the top wide receiver in coach Brad Childress's West Coast offense this year, has a long and troubled history with alcohol issues and was suspended by the NFL for four games in 2004 for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. This incident would appear to be KoRo's third strike, which would carry with it an automatic one-year suspension from the NFL, in addition to whatever penalty the new no-nonsense Vikings regime would invoke as a team. In other words, Robinson's season – if not his career – is likely over. The Vikings, whose defense is already reeling from the loss of first-round draft pick Chad Greenway for the season with an ACL injury, are now left with a gaping hole in their offense.

Vikings officials have not commented on the incident."

Adios.

they were just talking about how much of an improvement he had made. it's a shame that he wasted his talent, but football aside hopefully he can get help and truly straighten his life out before he ends up ruining someone else's life besides his own.

Just saw this now and it makes me angry and sad.

He is more talented than any receiver we ever had even including Torry. He has nothing between his ears. This is just stupidity. How many fuckups can you have before you straighten out.

"Gifted" would have been a much better choice than "talented"

I just hope he can pull his life together. I gotta wonder if Brian Williams leaving for Jacksonville had an impact on this. He was a bit of a mentor or KRob in Minnesota and provided a lot of personal support from what I remember reading.

Yeah, the reporters were like:

"he's doing great yada yada yada, went back to rehab after he was done to stay on top of every thing. He keeps a little notebook about his experiences with him at all times. That really shows what great character this guy Koren Robinson has"

Then two days later, its this shit?!?!Im throwin in the towel.

what I don't understand is why people feel it's a good idea to drive 100mph in a 55 zone when you have been drinking. Go the fucking speed limit. It's not even like he was totally hammered, he blew a .11. Just don't be stupid.
