why are you going to let a failed build report your dependencies to you, anyway? many packages have known defects when compiled against certain versions of their dependencies. you really should be using a package manager for best experience if you aren't going to research the dependencies much less the features and errata certain combinations of packages offer, it requires much less effort and generally the package selection is going to be more compatible and enable more features of the software (and underlying hardware in many cases) that you choose to use.
