I would have had a crap load of frogs to sell, but i accidentally killed off around 30 tadpoles in may and only have froglets and tadpoles now that are too young. stupid silicone not curing right pisses me off.

shit that soon? i gotta start planning.

i have a classroom to fill now:
i want
a snake (ball python or blood ball python)
a NICE male bearded dragon (willing to spend $$) my 2 females need a lover
a decent female leopard gecko (tangerine or carrot tail)

if a decent price and temperment - 2 sugar glider joeys (i may end up going thru a breeder though)
maybe some degus or other small animal
a pair of rats
maybe a hairless guinea pig or rat (to freak the rest of the school out)

hmmm.... this is gonna take some thought and a chaperone

^^^ they can't sell pines at the show (although i'm sure if you asked enough vendors you'd find one with one stashed under the table)

^ eastern and southern hogs are also forbidden, but westerns abound and take to eating mice much more easily than easterns (it was a pain getting my eastern to switch and took several months and a freezer full of toads)

i actually got an email from some random dude trying to boycott the show. i dont know how the fuck he got my email address. i dont know what others think, but i believe alex russell has been doing a better job with organizing the show than tony cueto ever did. granted alex has only organized the past 2 shows, this guy is calling for a boycott just because a few bad apple vendors put out sickly animals, even though there are plenty of vendors with animals in great health. i just found it kinda offensive, they're trying to get the shows in NC shut down altogether, including the charlotte show that is planned for this coming spring. it pisses me off that one guy can somehow steal a bunch of peoples' email addresses to turn around and try to steal money out of the pockets of not only the event organizer, but all the vendors who have to pay good money to try to sell their animals.

i'm debating on attending. there are almost no arachnids available (except rose hair tarantulas and emperor scorpions), and i don't want to sink the money into another reptile set-up.

mj and i may go just to look, but i don't really expect to go home with anything.

kinda random
but if anyone gets anything in a trade or decides they dont want it after the show i'll be taking donations to my classroom. my students really want more pets and i can't afford to buy them and the setups at this point on my fantastic teaching salary.

i do have some leopard gecko eggs incubating right now. due in about 2 weeks. trying to incubate for females but we'll see.. they're blizzard x albino. so i could trade them.

will they sell the VIP tickets the day of at the counter???
anybody know?

AND
i need suggestions.
i have a VERY LARGE TANK. it was my iguanas before he outgrew it
its 4ft long and 2.5ft wide and 2.5ft tall.
I don't know what to put in it. i already have plenty big enough tanks for my beardies and my uromastyx.
whatever it is it has to have a good temperment. can be tamed and handled.
contemplating a pair of egyptian uros.
maybe a few chuckwallas, leopard lizards, collards, or zebra tails...

i can't have a snake. too many students are afraid.
not fond of monitors or tegus.

^^ you can turn it into a large vivarium and put some darts or mantellas in it a mixed pygmy leaf chameleon and mantella vivarium would probably do well (even though pygmy leaf chameleons sold at the show are from mainland africa and not madagascar)

If anyone needs a red tail boa, there's one at Avian and Exotic that needs a home. His name is Slinky.

I'm not really big into reptiles... I had a leopard gecko once that was awesome! Anyways thought I would share this info.

SPCA has the following reptiles for adoption

A red tail boa named "Slinky" also... same one?

i got:
a hairless hamster creepy but cool.
NICE proven adult hypo pastel male bearded dragon from Georgia Bearded Dragons. he should get the job done.
a siberian chipmunk. random but its pretty friendly. just gotta do my research and set her up a nice home. she's in a bird cage right now.

it was a pretty good show. not as many small animals as i hoped for but the reptile selection was fantastic - would have liked to see more geckos. couldnt find a decent female albino leopard. tons of uromastyx (even 3 captive bred ornates for good price). not as many chameleons as last show.

^^^ yea i've had one of my beardies for 5 yrs. she's just a norm. then 1.5 yrs ago i bought a beautiful young hypo pastel female from Georgia Bearded Dragons to keep my first one company. she's incredible looking. she didnt look like much at the show but after i got her home and she settled in and shedded once her colors really developed.
they only had 2 or 3 adults. i bought their only adult male. he was $300 which is alot to spend on one animal but he's got a nice buttery yellow and orange color and was trying to mate with the female he was in with at the show so i know he'll be a good breeder. cross your fingers they get along and i get some good clutches. i should be able to get a good price for the babies.

here let me track down my camera and i'll take pictures of em all

the chipmunk is sleeping in her nestbox and i don't want to disturb her so here's a pic from the internet.

here the hairless hamster.

and the new dragon. the pictures dont do him justice. and dont worry he's only in the little tank for 2 days. i'm going to introduce him to the females after i've handled him some and gotten him used to me.

didn't buy any animals, although i had parking lot trades set up for some darts. traded a few froglets for some male pumilio. only bought some bromeliads and tillandsia. and a nice stump to make the 35hex i got at the petco sale last week (hell yeah, can't beat getting a 35hex for 35 bucks) a nice 360 degree viewable tank
