i was driving back from charlotte last night while some shitty 944 came racing up beside me. it sounded like asshole and smelled of it too. later down the road his exhaust came flying off.. good times.
in the same night an 80's 3 series bmw popped something in the engine as oil spewed out the back and the shortly had to pull over.
that's my best, cept for when the rear end on the ram locked up i bet that was a sight to see at 60mph keke 8/18/2006 8:05:00 AM |

driving down I-85 I was about 40 feet behind and one lane over from a pickup truck with a fridge in the back. The fridge fell over the side of the pickup, and into my lane gonig about 70mph. That was scary to avoid, I didn't know which way it would bounce but I managed to swerve around it. 8/18/2006 3:45:25 PM |

i was behind an 18 wheeler a few years back and the tire exploded. I thought my windshield was going to shatter.
not really a car story, but a few years back, the cages opened on a chicken transport truck while it was going down the interstate. I came through a few minutes after it happened.......the road was red and white, and a few survivors were running around on the side of the road. 8/18/2006 3:54:56 PM |

I was driving my 67 chev 2 ton and for some reason it leaked out all the oil. I heard the motor start to knock, pulled in the driveway and hit the clutch. when I let it out, the back tires were dragging. I guess I need to pick up a cheap used small block to go in it. 8/18/2006 4:59:50 PM |

Driving my Teg on a job site in Chatham County...
There was a bottom I had to drive through, and it had a combination of mud/muck/water about a foot deep or so. I went flying through it twice without any problem.
The third time was the charm. Keep in mind that I had put an engine in this car 20k miles previously and had not put an air filter on it (the stock airbox got lost, and the intake hose had split so I chunked it). Call me lazy, stupid, or whatever. Sometimes you just don't give a damn.
Engine swallows an assload of muddy water and proceeds to hydrolock and throw a rod. Engine stalls. Well, I wasn't gonna take no for an answer, so I cranked that motherfucker right back up. Clatter loud as all 40 hells and still running on 3 cylinders. It stalled again, and this time the starter wouldn't budge it.
This was in a new subdivision, and i was actually on a just-cleared right-of-way for the road. One of the roadbuilding guys walked up and asked me what happened.
Me: "I just blew the engine." Him: "you so sure? Sure you didn't just lose all the oil outta yer engine?" Me: "Why you say that?" Him: "There's a big puddle of oil under your car." Me: "Yeah, that would've come out of the gaping hole in the block." 8/18/2006 7:37:31 PM |

^Yeah, seriously - that stuff will get you labeled a terrorist ASAP...
Driving from Raleigh to Winston Salem once I went by Jiffy Lube to get the oil changed on the way out of town. The guy told me it was leaking out so fast he'd feel bad for charging me for an oil change so he was just going to put thicker oil in there, but I needed to change my main seals ASAP.
I got to celebration station, and I started smelling something funny. Looked behind me and the sky was dark. Look front, nothing. When I looked back to the front, shit start pouring into the passenger compartment. Then the engine blew - lost all power, in the far-left lane on I-40. I just put on my blinker and pulled over as soon as I could, and barely made it.
Turns out it threw a rod, so I ended up selling it for $500. 8/18/2006 7:39:49 PM |

I would have sued Jiffy Lube for obviously fucking up your engine. I take it everything was fine until that motard drained your oil. 8/18/2006 7:40:51 PM |

we had been wheeling back when you could do it at poole rd
my whole group was stuck and 4 trucks in another group passed us by and didn't bother to help... we finally got everyone out and got on down the trail
we came upon one of the trucks that had passed us (brand new Jeep sitting in water up to his hood)
he begged us to pull him, I pulled him out (ripped his bumper off in the process)
as soon as he got out the water draining turned into oil
he had thrown a rod right through his block
I loled
we came back the next day and some people had rolled his jeep down an embankment
I loled again 8/18/2006 7:44:11 PM |

not really blowing up... but driving through Winston-Salem my freshamn year heading to campus with my folks a cop flew past us chasing after someone. Then about 2 minutes later we passed the cop as he was trying to pull his car to the side of the road after the entire rear drivers side wheel fell off. 8/18/2006 8:13:16 PM |

my friend's mom came to pick us up one day back in middle school and we noticed smoke coming out from under the car. The van was parked on the street ~50 ft from our house so we just went inside to watch while we waited for the firemen to come. After about 2 minutes you could see flames from under the wheel well and a few minutes after that the gas tank exploded and the flames went about 30 ft in the air. The van was completely burned to the ground with mostly just the metal parts of the car left. 8/18/2006 8:15:42 PM |

i thought i saw a dog running down the road going home to charlotte one time. as i got closer i realized it was a tire hauling ass down the road on its own accord. i got around it and then all hell broke loose behind me when everyone realized why i slowed down and swerved. 8/18/2006 9:20:41 PM |

I was sitting at the stop light at Gorman & Avent Ferry about 3 years ago. I noticed a little smoke blowing from my left and look over to see an old F-100 in horrible shape with a few little puffs of white smoke coming from under the hood. I didn't think much of it because I was running late for work. The guy in front of me didn't go when the light turned green and I was about to blow the horn when a rather large woman in what looked gym clothes went sprinting by my car, through traffic with what looked like about a 5 pound fire extinguisher. I looked back over at the truck and the guy had popped the hood and found there was a full blown fire. Two cops pulled up about that time (the sub-station was still in the shopping center at the time) and helped get it under control. 8/21/2006 1:22:57 PM |

was sitting in my bedroom one day many years ago when a little utility trailer came rolling down the street on its own.
not long after i got my license, i got on the highway beside a tractor pulling half of a mobile home and one of the many little ballon tires exploded right next to me, scaring me shitless. i thought it was a shotgun blast. 8/21/2006 3:31:20 PM |

When I was driving a Geo Storm (laugh all you want), I came up to the light in crossroads plaza and revved my engine... to keep it going (stop laughing).
The guy beside me in a Camaro SS obviously customized revved back. Laughing the whole time I gunned mine. He gunned back, the light turned green he went ZZOOOO *BLAM* o... cuh cuh cuh cuh and I zoomed by.
He happened to come in where I worked later and told me he threw a piston. I felt bad for him. 8/21/2006 4:21:52 PM |
