ok here are what i believe are each of the qb's 2 best seasons and their passing/rushing stats. just look at the 4 sets and tell me which ones look better.
hell, even if you pick out vick's 2 seasons as being the best two, by either looking up his stats and matching them or genuinely thinking they are better, the fact remains that he is comparable to kordell stewart. that in itself is enough proof that vick is not the god among men that so many people make him out to be.

really?
i thought 4 was the best of the bunch.
21 passing TD's, 11 rushing?
the 17 INT's suck, but 32 TD's is nothing to scoff at, not to mention 3500 combined yards and 43 first downs off of runs. 8/18/2006 2:44:49 PM |

Stats are for losers. I don't even like Vick that much and I certainly don't think he deserves the knob slobbing he gets from ESPN, but to compare Kordell Stewart and Mike Vick is insane. At the very least Mike Vick brings that playmaking ability to the table where at any time he can break out for a big run. That keeps defenses honest and opens the offense up to some of the other players with him, beit receivers or RBs or whatever. 8/18/2006 2:57:26 PM |
ncWOLFsu Gottfather FTL 12586 Posts user info edit post |
it's a better ratio but not way better
it's basically 2:1 vs 1.5:1
that looks better on paper, but we're talking about a difference of 8 TD's here as well. that's 48 points.
anyway
season one: vick 2002 year season two: kordell 2001 year season three: vick 2005 year season four: kordell 1997 year
i'd rank the seasons:
3=4>2>1
^how long have you been watching football? kordell brought that same thing to the table. look at the rushing numbers for both players. look how many first downs each ran for. holy shit they're pretty similar!

^^I think Vick is better, but Stewart brought the threat of the run too. If Vick wasnt' stuck in the WC off. he would be much better. This will be Mora's last year.

hey, vick definitely still has a chance to change things. he's still around and kordell is long gone.
vick certainly isn't worth what they pay him in atlanta though. i sure as hell wouldn't want him as my team's QB. kordell couldnt get it done in pittsburgh, and vick isn't gettin it done in atlanta yet either.
the problem with vick though, is that there is a better qb sitting on the bench that won't see the field until vick gets one of his inevitable injuries.
^afc championship in 2001 and 1997. lost to new england in 01 and denver in 97, both by a TD or less, and both teams they lost to went on to win the super bowl.
another thing to point out is that vick plays in the NFC

Shaub would be better for the WC off. if Vick was put in an off. like Martz used to run in STL, with downfield passing and a good rec. he would go off. 8/18/2006 3:06:03 PM |

defintely. that's the worst part about it. vick could most definitely be a servicable quarterback if they used him right. he has a strong arm, but he doesn't have very good accuracy at all. he'd be much better off launching bomb passes all day rather than missing a WR on a 6 yard out pattern.
get 5 WR's out there, stack one side of the field. if he can't find anyone to throw to, he can run the other way with less guys to stop him at least.
i honeslty think i could do a better job utilizing vick than the falcons do. however, my point still remains that vick is not a very good quarterback. he has yet to intimidate anyone with his arm, and right now i see no reason for defenses to not put 8 or 9 guys in the box all day and force him to throw. 8/18/2006 3:10:24 PM |

the problem with alot of coaches in the nfl is that they try to adapt players to a system instead of adapting the system to the players....in my personal opinion this is why most college coaches don't do well in the nfl, they're used to hand picking players that fit their system in college, but you can't really do that in the NFL. 8/18/2006 3:13:39 PM |

me and my buddy were talking about how atlanta would be scary if they lined up vick and schaub as split backs
course if vick got the snap its kinda like 11-10 cause schaub wouldnt be a threat for any screen passes or anything 8/18/2006 3:18:33 PM |

Atl, has so much texa$ invested in Vick that he'll always be the starter by default while he's there and healthy.....I wouldn't mind seeing the panthers go after shaub when he's a FA. He'd be a good replacement for Delhomme in a few years. 8/18/2006 3:30:03 PM |

i'd like to see Vick as a reciever. He obviously has great speed and the ability to make people miss. If he can do that in the secondary it's big yardage if not a TD. He would be a big reciever (physically), which a lot of db's have difficulty with. Plus defenses would always have to watch for the reverse and the pass option. He's a good QB, but not great. 8/18/2006 4:24:54 PM |

it's not cuz he's black, it's cuz he's simply shown nothing but flashes of greatness.
imagine if Jordan only went off once every 80 games, but was always getting hurt and never being able to finish
or if Babe Ruth struck out 100 times for every home run.
if Vick was consistent, then there'd be no shadow of a doubt, he'd be great. But he's not, so he's relegated to internet analysts trashing him while espn douches pitch tents in his anus. 8/20/2006 9:45:00 AM |

He's listed at 6' 215. Height he's not that big compared to other receivers, but weight wise he is bigger than average and he's probably stronger than the average receiver.
The avg. receiver according to nfl.com is around 6'0 192, and about the same for corners. That gives him no advantage or disadvantage height wise, but 23 pounds on them. 23lbs is a good difference. And makes him bigger than average. Factor that in with his speed, agility, ability to run, and overall athleticism and Vick would make a good receiver (on paper)... assuming he can catch.8/20/2006 2:53:44 PM |
