as a few of you know i took a teaching position recently.
teaching Agriculture

i'm bringing in a lot of my reptiles into the classroom but would like to have some other class pets too.

i have extensive experience caring for many many types of reptiles and small animals/pocket pets/exotics. you name it and i probably have taken care of one or know its needs.

so if you have any little critters that you're looking for a good home let me know.
i guarantee they will be spoiled and receive tons of attention. all students will be taught about husbandry, handling, and the animals needs. you're welcome to come see where they'll be living and check out the pre-exisiting pets in the program.

i'd also really appreciate any donations of cages or supplies. our budget doesn't allow for that so we pay for everything for these animals.

i'll give you two male dwarf hamsters or 2 female dwarf hamsters for free w/ their cage and everything. I'd reccommend the males for kids though.. the females are a bit nippy. Let me know when you'd like to check them out or come pick them up.

Some of the animals on your list DO NOT make classroom pets (i.e. chinchillas) because they are nocturnal and children create a high stress environment.

EDIT: in an ag class with older children maybe...

there are 3 chinchillas in the other Ag class that have lived in the classroom for years now and they love coming out to play. they have large play areas.

the classrooms are huge and don't really get very loud. these are high school students.

the other teacher has had 2 chameleons in her room for 8 yrs now, even successfully incubated and hatched some. i've kept chameleons and i know how sensitive to stress they can be.
so if thats any indication of the classroom environment...

I dont have any critters to give away but in middle school we had a snake named fluffy (ball python). She was awesome.

Megan ^^^^^ gave me 2 hamsters and i found 2 guinea pigs off craigslist.
I picked up a hairless hamster and a 3 wk old red satin guinea pig at the expo this past weekend.

i have 24 students in 2 sections of my AG 1 class and they each have a designated day to clean all the cages. saves me a lot of work and they enjoy handling them.

I have an addorable well socialized guinea you could probably have. only about 4 month old but sweet as hell. I bought him for my girlfriend and then found that I am allergic to the thing- this being said it gets zero attention when I am at home cuz it drives me crazy
