just replaced the air conditioning compressor in the 99 jetta that i have (box body style)

the compressor isnt cycling on and off at all, it runs continuously with out cycling off if i change the temperature setting

i couldnt find anything about it in the volkswagen service manual

common sense tells me that it should cycle off if i have the ac switch on and the temperature set to max heat but it isnt

anyone have any ideas or is this normal

found it

the compressor is a variable displacement type

it adjusts automatically based on the load and doesnt cycle to reduce the surging caused by cycling

just didnt check the right section and wanted to type it out of anyone else
