some people are so fucking lazy they need a worthless button that quotes the entire post for them. we, the userbase, have already discussed this to death showing that it is equally inefficient to have a full-post quoter when you only want to quote part of said post.

am i serious? fuck yes i'm serious. when i want to quote a small portion of a post on other message boards i hit the quote button. then i delete the information i don't wish to quote. I STRIVE FOR EFFICIENCY.

as opposed to sitting around having a circle jerk about everything? conflict is life. you whining about us furthers that point.

he wanted to know why there is no quote button. in fact, he didnt even say it nicely. we informed him that:

1) there was a quote button, even if it isn't what he wanted
2) it isn't really needed and is questionably efficient

id say this is one of the more constructive FF threads as far as response is concerned.

well, let me walk you through it.

old style quote button, optimal workflow (which few real users will actually find intuitive):

Post Reply -> Quote -> Select Text -> Copy -> Paste

old style quote button, intuitive workflow

Post Reply -> Quote -> Select Text -> Copy -> Paste -> Select Text -> Delete

proposed interface

Quote Post -> Select Text -> Delete

while obviously more efficient when considered rationally, it should also be obvious that re-ordering workflow to have all text manipulation operations occur in the familiar environment of a text box will allow a larger portion of the userbase to find the most efficient workflow the most intuitive

so it's tdub's fault that ppl are stupid is what you are trying to say.

not only that, but if you want to quote multiple posts or multiple specific parts of a post you spend just as much time deleting as you would just picking said sentences in the first place (or you have to type it in manuall or use the old style quote button)
