Does anyone know where I can find a deep 19mm, 3/4" drive impact socket for <$20? Harbor Freight and Northern don't have much to choose from in 3/4" drive or metric ($80 kits only). Anyone have one I could borrow for a few hours?

Sears seems to have every tool I've ever needed.
It was the only place I could find a 22mm stubby wrench and not have to special order it. 8/19/2006 12:40:47 PM |

After 20 minutes on hold, CarQuest does not carry it.
The sears website is making the $80 kit look like a steal, they charge >$200 for similar kits. They do not have a 19mm impact socket listed separately.
I may give big lots a shot. 8/19/2006 1:25:01 PM |

Fuck it. If a 6' cheater bar will work on an axle nut, it'll work on a crankshaft bolt too. Cool tools can wait 'til I'm employed.

Go to fucking Walmart or Lowe's and get a full set for around 20 dolla.
But it's 1/2" drive.
Here's a tip fer ye: nobody stocks that size in 3/4" drive. you need to get an impact grade reducer to 1/2"...and I bet Northern and Harbor Freight both carry them.
Another tip: It doesn't have to be metric. Get a 3/4" socket. 3/4" and 19mm are almost exactly the same, and I use them interchangeably all the time. Same goes for 11/16" and 17mm. 8/19/2006 2:35:06 PM |

And 13mm fits 1/2" but 1/2" does not fit 13mm...at least not without a hammer.
11mm and 7/16" are interchangeable.
9mm and 3/8" interchange with a little effort.
8mm and 5/16" are a shoo-in fer each other.
21mm and 13/16"
22mm and 7/8"
24mm and 15/16"
et cetera et cetera 8/19/2006 4:15:01 PM |

I didn't see the reducers at Northern, but I did find them at harbor freight the second time around.
This http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92651 sucks, btw. It's all I can afford tho.

I bet a snap on truck would have it 8/21/2006 12:02:26 AM |

most likely, they'll have to order it. There's a lot of stuff in the Snap-On catalog that's not usually on a tool truck. They just don't sell enough of them. One of my best friends is a Snap-On tool guy.
^^BTW, that gun won't get it. not enough torque. You'll need 600 plus. My air gun does 450, and it won't break one usually.
