self titled (or aka 'lovers') was dissapointing overall despite some tracks i really liked.

my order of their other 3 official releases changes a lot but right now im kicking adrenaline again so:

adrenaline > around the fur > white pony >>>> S/T

altho all 3 are great in their own way. grew up on these guys basically

just listened to the "hole in the world" song on myspace. i liked it.

most of hte songs on S/T seemed forced into something that was trying to be their old formulas instead of letting themselves grow up and grow out.

this song musicwise and definitely production wise (no terry date, altho he was great for them and defined their sound in the studio, and no guy trying to make them sound like terry date probably helps) is different than anything ive heard from them.

im super excited. i tried so hard to like S/T when it came out. deftones were basically my favorite band for close to 10 years and couldnt let myself not like the CD until i came to my senses :p

haha. yea im interested in hearing the album. altho i think the guys are confused as to what the term "hard" or "heavy" means anymore. before the last album they said S/T(titled 'lovers' at the time) was gonna be heavier than white pony and their heaviest stuff in awhile. and it really wasnt.

and all the interviews ive seen for months and months now have the guys saying this CD just came out super heavy, evil, and aggressive and how it was ironic because they wrote it out in malibu and all.

but ive heard 2 songs now "beware of the water" and "hole in the world" and while both of them are decent songs, they are melodic and trancey songs (as a lot of deftones stuff can be). I dont hear any rickets, or headup, or anything yet :p. not to say that i dont love a lot of the softer stuff that the deftones do. a lot of it is amazingly pretty music to listen to. i just think the guys have a different defintion of heavy 11 years after adrenaline was released. i also should somehow put less anticipation on this cd so i dont overhype it like the last one

a favorite band of mine as well, i actually like around the fur as their best album, but change and digital bath are two my favorite songs ever...i just listened to hole in the earth and absolutely love it

also, on myspace it says the release is 10.31

ive seen em twice...but both times i had to see other bands play just to see deftones...

had to see godsmack play with them

and the other time was at one of those metallica summer sanitarium shows where i just wanted to metallica (doesnt matter how much you hate them, still a fun time) and deftones but gay ass limp bizkit with fred durst trying to make a come back was there

glad to see a new 'tones vid.

and i dono..going to check out the hopesfall now but..

its different because i knew some of the original hopesfall band members somewhat personally and still talk to them. and they were one of the first hardcoreish bands i got into and saw them at tremont's casbah stage and crap back when they were the 'local' band.

and now its ONE of the original members...and he was the guitarist who didnt really write any of the music :/ ryan wrote most of all the old hopesfall songs. so they are completely different bands using the same name to me.

yea TSY was different. ryan was around to write most of hte guitar stuff still (TSY is actually in my cd player now :p) and jay actually did a really good job..or someone did a good job editing because he sounded a lot like the vocals on nowingstospeak of. so it still felt like hopesfall.
