Why do they keep putting James Woods in front of a goddamn Camera???

Jericho looked interesting, but that little blurb makes it sound dumb.

For me JJ Adams can still do no wrong, so I'm looking forward to Six Degrees. Bridget Moynahan and Erika Christensen can only help.

Smith looks like it could be decent. I'll most likely give it a shot.

I am really hoping that Jericho doesn't suck. I want to like it a lot but it looks like it could go either way. Actually my guess is that I will love it but it won't get the ratings and will get canceled mid-season.

Shark - meh. James Woods can't even save this one.

Vanished doesn't look to have too much to it.

I wonder if Kerr Smith being on Justice means he won't be on E-Ring anymore. I liked his character on that.

Studio 60 - This will probably do well, but no thanks to me. Not interested.

Heroes - Could go either way as well. I'll most likely watch for Hayden Panettiere and Ali Larter.

i am interested in Heroes and Smith and also Shark and Justice for law school/career related reasons. Out of the 2 legal shows I think Shark will be the better of the 2.

I've seen screeners of the first episodes for:

Shark - sucks, boring legal drama

Kidnapped - badass

The Nine - could be cool, nine people in a bank robbery that all meet and it's a story of how they all get connected

Vanished - seemed pretty cool, some weird drama with the senator's wife having a different name and being a slut, etc.

Friday Night Lights - couldn't watch it

Heroes could be cool but probably won't be.

I hope Friday Night Lights turns out to be good but I know it won't be.

Here's my question:

Which will be better, Studio 60 or 30 Rock?

You can't go wrong with a comedy-based Sorkin/Schlamme show, but the Fey show could come out of nowhere.

Pretty excited about Studio 60 and Heroes, as in I could see these joining my list of favorite shows.

I would probably try Nine, 6 Degrees, 30 Rock, Smith, Jericho (I take it this is the Invasion replacement?), as in I think these all have the potential to be either surprisingly good or really bad

And I was totally uninterested in Standoff until I saw that it has Ron Livingston

Most of the rest don't sound like they have a premise that could be sustained beyond 2 episodes, but since when has that stopped anyone?

I think the Class on CBS will be really funny like How I Met Your Mother. I also want to see Justice cause it sort of sounds a bit like the tactics used in Runaway Jury which I found pretty interesting

I just finished watching the pilot episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and liked it a lot. I'll definitely be looking forward to this in the fall. It's definitely got all the cookie cutter Sorkin pieces to it, but I'll forgive that for the time being.

I was just gonna ask where all you guys are getting these shows, but then I figured out that I was searching for the wrong keywords.

Apparantly the word to search for is "preair".

OK, I just got finished watching the pilot of Studio 60. I really liked it as well. Which kinda sucks because the last thing I need is another hour long drama that I'm hooked on. I kinda wanted to not like this show. Oh well. At least it's not scheduled in the same timeslot as anything else I watch.

I just finished a marathon day of watching the pilots for this upcoming fall season. Here's what I watched and my thoughts.

The Class - A few minor chuckles, but nothing special here. Very dumb premise. Not very likable characters. Whoever compared this one to How I met your mother was way off. 4/10

Friday Night Lights - I was actually surprised how much I liked this. Even if it was a little predictable and hokey, it still laid the groundwork for what could be a fairly entertaining show, if football dramas interest you. Should have called this one "Varsity Blues - The TV show" however. 6.5/10

Heroes - I'm still not sure how this one is gonna go. Right now, it could go either way. There are several characters there that I could start to like, and the acting isn't bad. They didn't give a ton away on the first show to let you see where this one is headed, but I suspect this one will be popular. I give it a solid 7.5/10

Jericho - I really really want to love this show. Something tells me that it will be a letdown, but after watching the first episode, I still have high hopes for this one. If this one turns out to be townspeople fighting over the last of the gasoline reserves instead of a full out post-apocaplyptic scenario, I will be very disappointed. Right now I have this one at a very hopeful 8/10.

Our Thirties - Tries to hard to be Friends-post-Friends. Fails miserably. 3/10

Shark - Not very interesting. There could be something there, but James Woods is no James Spader. Boston Legal has the interesting Law Drama show on lock down, plus it's funny as hell to boot. Shark had almost no humor in the episode (of course to be fair, it's not really that type of show) but it didn't even seem to make up for it with interesting court-play. 4/10

The Angriest Man in Suburbia - This show just made me angry watching it. Perhaps because I identified with the main character too much. Normally you would think identifying with the main character would be a good thing, but when the entire premise of the show is to annoy the main character, you end up pissing off your audience as well. Another one to avoid. 3/10

The Nine - They should have called this one "Inside man - The TV show". The pilot starts off showing you the start of the story, then cuts to the end. Then spends the rest of the episode (and presumably entire season) dropping in puzzle pieces for the viewer to fill in. That might be someone's idea of a good show, but it's not really my cup of tea. It did have some decent acting in it however. I expect this show might make it a full season. 5.5/10

The Singles Table - No. 1/10

Traveler - Not a bad show, just not a great one either. The first episode has two recent Harvard grads getting set up for a terrorist attack on an art museum. It didn't seem nearly as deep or smart as other shows out there and I don't expect this one will make it very far. I wouldn't get too attached to this one. 5/10

Knights of Prosperity - An entire show dedicated to watching a bunch of low income, lower intelligence social rejects attempting to Rob Mick Jagger. Yes, you read that correctly. And yes, it's as bad as it sounds. 2/10

Runaway - A family goes on the run after the father is framed for a murder. Ho hum. There's some mild excitement there and maybe the show will develop into something more, but I wasn't too impressed with the first episode. 5.5/10

Justice - Definitely the best of the two new law dramas. Victor Garber is great, and nothing like his Alias character. Kerr Smith is not bad either. Bruckheimer knows a thing or two about making somewhat decent TV. Still miles behind Boston Legal, but I wouldn't be surprised if this one made it a few seasons. 7/10

The Black Donnellys - Originally scheduled to be on the fall schedule, this show has now been bumped back to a mid-season replacement. It's about an Irish crime family in NYC. I'll admit it's late and I've watched a lot of TV today, but this show was very hard to keep track of all the characters. Some people die, other people get hurt, there are lots of flashbacks. I'm pretty sure there were two characters with the same name. I'll most likely give this one a second chance and probably watch the next couple of episodes before completely writing it off, but as of right now I'm pretty iffy on it. 5.5/10

Raines - Couldn't find out much about this show and when or if it will air. It's got some fairly big names including Jeff Goldblum (of Independence day and Jeffgoldblumiswatchingyoupoop.com fame) and Luis Guzmán. Luis' performance wasn't up to it's normal snuff, although I'll say that was most likely due to his character and the writing as opposed to any fault of his own. Jeff Goldblum has gray hair now and can also see dead people. Yes, the promise of the show is Jeff Goldblum is a detective that can see dead people. The "kick" here is that they aren't spirits, but actually hallucinations from his own mind. So they can't actually give him clues, just help him by sorting out the facts in his head. It had a few "not-so-horrible" moments(most notably when he finds out the murder victim has a southern accent and she changes the way she talks mid-sentence) , but I wouldn't expect this one to take off (if it even makes it that far to begin with). 6/10

Kidnapped - Jeremy Sisto (Billy from Six Feet under) and Delroy Lindo make this show work. It was a little odd seeing Jeremy Sisto as a badass instead of a crazy person, but he manages to pull it off. Delroy Lindo is badass as always. Very minor spoilers ahead but since the main kidnapping of the first show doesn't get resolved in the first hour, it's tough to tell if the entire series is about rescuing one person, or if each week is a different scenario. Judging from the blurb in the first post, I assume it's about one case, and I'm not sure if that's going to be something they can stretch out for a whole season. But stranger things have happened. I give this one 7/10

Studio 60 - I already gave my opinion of this one, but I'll give it a number score here now and say...8.5/10

whew. long post. Longer day. going to bed now.

I just got finished watching the first episode of Smith. I have to say it was pretty well done. Pretty good quality heist type stuff for a tv show. I wonder if they'll do a heist every episode, or just plan out and pull off 1-2 per season. Either way I'm gonna add this show to my DVR list, despite having the actress with the most annoying accent on the planet on it, Shohreh Aghdashloo. I give the show a 7/10
