i went to check the oil tonight on my 2001 sentra and the dipstick broke off. any tips on how to get it out without making it worse? and i should be fine to drive it to the mechanic tomorrow with the stick floating around without messing something up, right?

just the handle broke off. i can see the end of the stick about an inch below the end of the tube. i did a google search on "dipstick broken" and the first result was a ton of comments about 01-03 sentras having the same problem.

just take it out with some tweezers and put the cap back on. nissan might have a recall or something about it so bitch at the dealer and they might give you a new one.

Knowing how most dipstick tubes are too small for needle nose plyers....

Just run up to advance auto they'll help you. Then ya buy a new dipstick. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

No. Not really.

But I know for a fact that they don't have tools or people that will pull a broken dipstick out.

And they don't sell the proper dipstick for a Nissan Sentra. Or any car for that matter.

The only dipstick you can get there is a universal piece of shit that might work for a Chevy or Ford V8.

haha the know-how at advance on western gets better and better every week. i was looking for some tire irons the other day, they didn't really know what they were. when i explained to them that tire irons are a sort of a prybar used to take tires off the rim, they said they didn't have any, but told me i could try doing it with none other then a drill and a socket.

also Advance now sells bags of cashews 50% off. i am wating to see how long it take before food lion next door is going to start stocking engine hoists and spark plugs

If you're a hot chick someone WILL come out and take out your broken dipstick. Of course they will only want to put their dipstick back in.
