This will probably be a simple quesiton for many so feel free to flame away as long as I can get an answer. I just got a new receiver and speakers so I'm hooking them up with some old Monster XP speaker wire I have. I no longer have the paperwork that came with the speaker wire and I can't remember if the wire with the writing on it is the positive or negative wire. I can't seem to find any directional arrows on it either. Any help would be appreciated.

yeah, it will work either way but if you wire it backwards the speakers will be out of phase, which you probably won't be able to tell. I just wanted to get it right. Its usually pretty simple but both wires were white in this case. Thanks for the help though.

either side can be the grounding (black) as long as it's the same on both ends... for my system i used white writing as ground.

just be consistent.

er, if you can't tell that something is dreadfully wrong when one or more of your speakers is 180 out of phase, something may be wrong with your hearing

Yeah, all you need to do is wire all the speakers the same way. It really doesn't matter if you wire them "backwards" if you do them all that way.

There is no - or + when wiring speakers, only + and ground. And it doesn't matter what's printed on the wiring...copper is copper (or whatever yours are made of).

Seriously, I was surprised this thread happened once.

Twice in the same week? Damn, people.
