Ive been saying this the whole time. D. Williams is a better Rb than Bush. Even in college. Williams just didnt happen to live in the entertainment capital of the world.

Okay, i admit im a little excited about that 98yd kr for td. But he's just a pure between the tackle rb with all the tools. He'll have great success

Strange, because tonight he's constantly trying to bounce outside.

DEANGELO WILLIAMS MUST BE BETTER BECAUSE HE KICKS ASS IN THE PRESEASON!

And p.s. I think Bush will be a solid, not spectacular player, and will not be an every down back.

that was a great run back but i'm worried about his tendancy to always bounce outside, he might become easy to scout for. I'm sort of dissapointed in the Panthers running game right now

^he's an up the middle runner, unlike bush. The hole just wasn't there tonight. And he's work horse material, unlike somebody else I know

Foster seems to want to go up the middle so it works out i think

Foster seems TOO dedicated to the middle--he'll try to force through the line even when it's completely stacked.

if they could run a two back set, perhaps an I formation and have Foster as a middle threat and Williams as an outside threat they could really mix up some defenses...and not to mention it would help Jake look a little better I think.

Williams will be a more productive pure running back, i.e. he will have more rushing yards than Bush. Bush, however, can catch, run, and return kicks, and can gain more total yardage.

Bush is costing the saints more than 25 mil at the very minimum.

I highly doubt he will be returning too many kicks.

But he will be a great slot receiver, this is how I think they should use him most of the time, him and Deuce in at the same time.

No he's not....not yet anyway. I've read several articles citing Williams' tendancy to always bounce it outside......but Foxy is working on him. The kickoff return is evidence of that.

quote from Williams himself after the game:

Quote :
"The guys got upset with me last week for bouncing it out and I told them I would hit the hole no matter what this week,” "

Foster used to be the same way, but now he hits the gut first like Fox wants.

ive never understood why yards gained rushing are perceived to be more valuable than yards gained returning a kick

Statefan, obviously Williams has the ability to do it, but I don't think that the Panthers are going to need him as badly to play multiple rolls like the Saints need Bush to do. He'll do that kind of thing some, but I think in the long run, Bush will be given the opportunity for more all-purpose yards, and Williams will be given the ball on more hand offs.

Ive said this since he was in college. When he was overshadowed by the bush bandwagon. I always thought that bush wouldnt be a great pro rb. Maybe more like a randel el + hines ward type wideout/spel teams player. But not rb. D will is a true back.

They aren't more important, but you are more likely to get injured returning kicks.

Plus more people have the ability to return kicks, you can put Bush in there and get an average of 30 yards, or 4th string CB or RB and get 26. Sure you get more yards with the star, but it is a much bigger risk, you can always go out and get a FA dime corner, but you can't just pick up a feature back in the middle of the season.

can I prove that you are more likely to get injured returning kicks than sitting on the sidelines?

no I guess I can't

And for the record, I think people do focus too little on Special Teams

and that teams should get a designated kick returner, who is really good at returning kicks but might not be starting NFL level at other things.

Such as Devin Hester, I wouldn't call him a great player, but he can take kicks to the house with the best of them.

I think better phrasing would be, "Can you prove more people get injured in games than in practice?"
