Now it won't boot up. Anyone ever done this before? I figure there is something I have to deactivate but I don't know what.

I plug in the power cord to the power supply, press the power button and nothing happens. I know the surge protector works, etc. Nothing else plugged in. Fans don't even start.

what is it with everyone killing their power supplies right now?

and yea, if it's not responding to any electrical stimulation, then chances are really high that you killed it and need to replace it.

Ok. So the power supply needs to be replaced. No big deal, right? Does that run pretty cheap?

I mean, I might as well be talkin to a guy at Merchant's, I have no idea how much this shit costs. With all the power cables goign everywhere it seems somewhat tricky. Any cost estimates? I'd love for one of you kids to do it for me. And by kids, I mean anyone, I just gotta feel important sometimes.

Go to Mitsuba Intl 829-0294. He's right by blue ridge cinema in those office buildings. He'll fix you cheap.

did you check to see if the switch on the power supply is actually turned on??

good power supplies can run you around $75-$100

if it's an older computer that doesn't require a lot of power.. then you may be able to go cheaper with a lower wattage unit.

I'm going to go ahead and offer a bounty to someone who will take my computer, go find the power supply I need, and fix it. It's a p4 2.8 ghz with some sort of asus motherboard. I bought it from intrex about 2 years ago. this is going to be paid on a "get it done" basis, at a flat rate. if you have the knowhow, it might be worth it. lemme know.
