Congrats on beating Albany State 19-0...defense looked really tough all around especially on special teams. Thank GOD Arian Warren has a year of elgibility left. Why in the hell is UNC and Duke, not on our schedule, b/c we would so beat the hell out of both of those squads this year!

OC Wardlow got into NCCU...if that dumbshit got in, then your school is fucking awful.

That idiot lost a scholarship to UVA this year, and they said his grades were so bad that prep school wouldnt help. He now thinks he can make it to the NFL from NCCU as a 5'10" QB.

Eagles mow over Rams
ASU, which is ranked ahead of NCCU in three of four polls, is held to 148 total yards

N.C. Central's Randall Steiner (21) plows through Albany State quarterback Terrance Ransom, who had just recovered an errant snap.

DURHAM - Seven seconds remained on the clock with Albany State driving toward the end zone.

N.C. Central coaches called the defense over and hollered at the players. There were no technical instructions, just don't-you-dare-let-them-score yells.

On the next play, as defensive back Tyrone Williams drove Albany State's Kisan Flakes out of bounds and into the Eagles' sideline, NCCU started celebrating a satisfying 20-0 victory in its season opener.

"Shutouts don't come easy," defensive back Derrick Ray said. "Playing a team ranked fourth in the nation -- it means a lot."

Albany State (0-1) is ranked ahead of NCCU in three of four national polls.

This is the Eagles' final year in Division II, and the defending CIAA champions have much to accomplish if they are going to top 2005. That squad got a bye into the NCAA Tournament's second round after winning more games (10) than any other team in school history.

On Saturday, NCCU (1-0) got the start it wanted as it held ASU to 148 total yards and snapped the Golden Rams' 27-game winning streak over historically black institutions.

The Eagles' defense played without coordinator Clifford Yoshida, whose wife had heart surgery Friday.

"At first, it hurt some of the guys," defensive lineman Greg Peterson said. "This morning, we found out she was doing OK, and the guys felt comfortable just coming to play."

The defense shut down ASU both times it drove inside the red zone.

In the third quarter, the Rams reached the Eagles' 13, but NCCU caught tailback Brian Porter in the backfield for a 6-yard loss.

The Rams then committed two penalties, backing up farther, and threw two passes that the Eagles broke up.

"They took it to us in all phases of the game," Albany State coach Mike White said.

That included on offense, where redshirt freshman quarterback Stadford Brown performed to his Eagles teammates' satisfaction.

He completed 13 of 21 passes for 206 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The pick wasn't his fault -- ASU's Joshua Chapple snagged the ball after the intended receiver bobbled it.

"Stadford played great," senior receiver Charles Futrell said. "He led us real well, made some good throws, read the defenses real well."

Brown's performance could throw some questions into the team's future plans.

Senior Adrian Warren, the 2004 CIAA player of the year, did not dress out for the game. Before preseason camp, he quit football. He changed his mind Monday but rejoined the team too late to prepare for this game.

Earlier this week, offensive coordinator Mose Rison said Warren would be the starter as soon as he could get up to speed. That could be as early as the Sept. 3 game against Shaw.

Against Albany State, Brown auditioned to keep his spot.

"When I heard he was coming back -- I mean, that's good for him," Brown said. "Just because he's coming back doesn't mean that automatically, I'm forced to take the back seat."

Eagles coach Rod Broadway would not comment on the quarterback question.

Brown threw his only touchdown with 4:44 left in the first half, connecting on a screen pass to Julius McClellan, who broke free of the ASU defense and seemed to effortlessly run the 45 yards for the touchdown.

NCCU added two field goals from junior Brandon Gilbert and another touchdown in the fourth quarter -- Greg Pruitt Jr. scoring from 15 yards out.

Futrell had a career-high 105 yards receiving on five catches. It was a good night for his success -- there were NFL scouts from four teams in O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium looking at Futrell, McClellan and Peterson.

Futrell, a 6-foot-6, 200-pounder who also plays for the basketball team, didn't think too highly of his performance. "I give myself a C-minus," he said.

Broadway wasn't giving out grades, but there was more than enough to keep it from an A.

The coach was particularly unhappy with how the Eagles closed the game out. NCCU tried to grind out the clock with 2:45 left but was forced to give the ball back with a minute left.

ASU took the ball at its 46 and quickly got to the Eagles' 11 before NCCU held its ground.

"We get to the fourth quarter, we can't get a first down," Broadway said. "We shouldn't have given them that many opportunities with the ball in the fourth quarter. The game should have been over with."

Central you guys better beat the hell out of Shaw on Sunday at 4pm. it'll be interesting to see the student facing the teacher. The current football coach at SHaw, was the former Offensive Coordinator at NCCU last year....hopefully We can stop plays from our own playbook, hehe.

Game 2: #13 NCCU Eagles (1-0) vs. Shaw Univ. Bears (0-0)

This game was a dog fight from the beginning, and both defenses came out on fire. Going into halftime the score was NCCU 14 & Shaw 12. Adrian Warren(NCCU's CIAA Offensive Player of the year for 2004) has given the Eagles offensive coordinator game management issues to deal with due to Warren missing all of Spring practices...so our Redshirt freshman...who transferred from Oregon State Univerrsity had an amazing display in game one going 13-29 for 206 yards and 1 TD.....Today against Shaw was no exception...Staford went 13-26 for 201 yards and 1 TD. Im predicting that NCCU Head Coach Rod Brodway stays with the redshirt freshman b/c he is playing his ass off!

With 2:14 left in the fourth quarter, NCCU's Pre-Season All Conference running back Greg Pruitt broke 4 tackles and rushed 26 yards for the game breaking TD...and it was OVER for Shaw by this point. #13 NCCU (2-0) and Shaw (0-1).

**** My Wolfpack and Eagles won this weekend..so Im happy!!

Even though Lenoir Rhyne gave a punch to the mouth with a 10-0 lead ending the first quarter...Stadford Brown, Gregg Pruitt, Brandon Alston, and Charles Futtrell gave the 1-2-3-4 punch in the 2nd and 3rd quarter and blew the game open in the mddle of the 3rd quarter, and won 38-16.

NCCU Eagles-38
Lenior Rhyne College- 16

(* I think Lenoir Rhyne is one of only three predominantly white institutions we play all season, Im glad LR brought a good size crowd to the game...hopefully they enjoyed the halftime show

Since this is Sports Talk, Im going why a small handful of you do not like hearing about NCCU on this NCSU message board, eventhough people discuss UNiv. of Tennessee, duck hunting, wrestling, and even (gasp) Eglish football.....if NCCU was not an HBCU(Historically Black College), those of you posting stupid shit under my topic would not ever care about when I posted scores if NCCU was a predominnatly white institution! When people post about predominantly white institutions, I hardly read about people saying , "no one cares...blah blah...." but it's cool, "I figured Id inform everyone of the small minds and backwards thinking of some of the people who continually get accepted to NCSU, who continue to think that everything in the World of Sports is "Whites Only". Sorry to bust your collective bubble, but THINK AGAIN DUMB ASSES! In about 5-10 years, whites will be the minority anyway in the U.S. so those of you who have a problem with topics related to things NON-WHITE..enjoy it while it last

-Ahh I feel better now that I got that off my chest, this statement was LONG OVERDUE!

With over 2000 screaming NCCU fans in the Southern Stadium...teh game was set as a massive lightning storm was approaching(no one cared b/c we had our drinks and food in hands), and going into halftime DII and #7 ranked NCCU was leading D1-AA Southern 27-7 , until SU made a change at quarterback, and SU went on a termendous comeback...and eventually lost 20-27!

After the game, I hopped in my rental car and drove back to my hotel, to see the last half of the NCSU and BC game....both of my squads winning...FUCKING SWEET!

GO NCCU! beat Bowie State this weekend!

GO PACK! Ravage the hell out of the seminoles next week, even though my grad. school's band will
blow NCSU out of the water (sorry guys, but it's true..youll see)...and to Mr. Evans..

I clicked on this at first because I looked at the title wrong and I thought it was discussing NCAA Football 2006 the video game.

Also, NCCU football sucks ass. I saw them play on tv last year and that was the worst excuse for college football I have ever seen. They couldn't hold Duke or UNC's jock. If it keeps you happy, keep thinking that NCCU plays good football. THEY FUCKING SUCK!!!

The fact that you hate blacks has no influence on this statement at all right?

^and it's Bush league, not Busch league. And NCCU is becoming Div. I-a next year so expect an increase in the schools media share next year.
