I know this was posted in the recruiting thread, but people may not read that thread much and this guy is bigtime. For those of you that don't know, Wright committed to Sendek but de-committed when Sendek left. He's the top point guard in the country left that is uncommitted, I believe.

Anyways, he will be at the game on Saturday. Apparently he will be at the Fan Zone before the game and he will be sitting in the end zone in front of the Murphy Center.

Perhaps a chant or something could be made by you people sitting down there near him?

I believe Georgetown is the main competition for him... others Clemson, Wake, and Pitt.

Here are some photos of him, so keep your eyes out. Be respectful if you see him and just let him know how much he is needed/wanted here at NCSU.

heh, maybe get the folks in the NEZ to hold up signs, each with a letter that spells out "WE WANT CHRIS WRIGHT"

or something to that effect. This would be an excellent project for the SWPC to drive.

normally they put these kids right by the top of the student section down there so they are in the mix but yet distant enough to not get too much crap dealt to them...if anyone is in that area be on teh lookout.

I think I remember Shakur sighting the student section as a big plus when the students cheered for him, although he went to Arizona, but I can't blame him for that.

similar to doing the RED - WHITE cheer, just change to CHRIS - WRIGHT. East side yells Chris, west side yells Wright back and forth.

[Edited on August 31, 2006 at 2:42 PM. Reason : WRIGHT not WHITE]

maybe the new game vs Savannah State in Reynolds Dec. 9th will be the final deciding factor for him

Isn't Savannah State the team that lost 40 straight games (or something similar)?

some people in the grass area a few years back pre-mario (well i think it was mario.. i don't remember) knew he was visiting and held up a sign then.. security made them take it down [probably ncaa rules?]

[Edited on August 31, 2006 at 4:16 PM. Reason : i don't even think they are allowed to acknoledge that hes here on the screens. but i think im wrong]

It's against NCAA rules for the university or a university-affiliated group (i.e. WPC) to do anything organized. That rules out using the scoreboards, etc.

Individual fans making signs, spontaneous chants, etc. is generally acceptable.

I'm guessing security made you take down signs because you were holding them up in front of people, not b/c they referenced a recruit. Our event security is pretty flaky, anyway. I remember the Gale Force Gestapo trying to take away a sign I had at a basketball game because they considered "da Jules" a sexual reference

so a good idea that the PP people had was everyone start the Chris...Wright chant at the end of the 1st quarter. i say we do this. can you SWPC peolpe get it started. perhaps we should make two signs. one on the student section side and have another person go to the opposite side and hold it up for the old people over there. hopefully it wouldn't turn into the RED/WHITE chant.

i wasn't sitting there i was on the other side but i think it was sitting on the ground so just the fans could see it or something like that.. i don't rembmer to well.. but wouldn't this fall under the whole posting a myspace comment on a recruit thing (i dont even know about the recruiting rules.. that may have been bullshit.)

98% of the people in the stadium will not even know who chris wright is

it will end up red/white no doubt

does anyone else find it strange that we try and attract basketball recruits at football games? like as if to say, these are the fans you won't see during basketball season...or maybe you will

either way, i think our fans are a bad influence on recruits

why do you think that? i would think our fans would be attractive to recruits. i think 60,000+ fans wearing red and white going absolutely nuts would get the adrenaline pumping...

Ask Jules if he was badly influenced by our fans when we did this for him...

If I remember correctly, he committed within the next week.

It depends on what day recruits see our fans. One day, we're some of the best in the country, the next, we're the worst.

J.C. Neal (football) committed to us almost immediately after his visit and interaction with fans at the GT football game a few years ago.

so Prick Pride is planning on doing this right after the 1st quarter ends

i see a few things happening:

1) the between quarters commercials drown out the 500 people who are chanting
2) he's in the bathroom and doesn't hear a damn bit of it
3) it's early enough in the game that people will still be really drunk and will natively start chanting Red-White when they hear any sort of chant being formed....then it might even shift to Wolf-Pack

just has to happen at the game, plan isn't really going to work. the one i saw on packpride is a bit complicated anyways

should just get everyone to start chanting "Chris Wright"

this would be a huge get for Sir Sid and would quell a lot of anxiety around wolfpack nation

Chant would be cool, but it will take people sitting in his section to get that accomplished.

So if you see him at the Fan Zone or in the concourse, speak to him and let him know how much he is needed here in Raleigh. Keep it short and respectful.

GO PACK!
