they only play techno week nites from 8-11, & hard metal is only friday nite....

m-f daytime = indie music

i wouldn't mind if they cut out the chainsaw rock (but i'm sure there's a big enough fan base for this) or if they got rid of the acapela show, hippie shoe or foreign music show. but if enough listeners like that stuff, i'm happy enough that i get to hear indie all day during the week.

hell, i could care less about certain talk shows they do but not enough to want the shows gone if enough listeners like them.

I like the Indian and a cappella on Sundays - don't change those.

Afterhours definitely needs to stay, but I don't see what's wrong with moving it back to 10-1. No one wants to hear that shit at 8 PM.

Personally, I wish KNC would switch to a more open format. I don't want it to be like XYC, where they'll play two Ramones songs and then some Phillip Glass bullshit, but I could deal with some random shit thrown into the "boring indie" daytime playlist.

one show that i really like that they ahve once a week at wuag (or at least used to) was their instrumental rock hour. i loved that shit. and it's something you don't hear on the radio all the time.

i think basically you need to make it clear to dj's not to just queue up their ipods and press play. i want some thought put into the shows. the people should take pride in them, not just play a song from the 100 song list that they play all day every day.

it's funny that guilford college can fill 18 hours worth of slots (and have people who get turned away) for their radio station and their school has like 2000 people.

i guess that speaks to the difference in quality of the two radio stations. that and they let people play what they want to a certain extent.

i hate a capella. like really hate it. but i like the fact that we have the show. it's a niche that obviously has its fans.

as it is most of the day, knc's is playing the most non-offensive music you can that can still vaguely be considered "alternative" or "hip" or "indie" or whatever you want to refer to it as.

There used to be a morning show, back when I was in high school. Half the time one guy or the other didn't wake up in time to do it and it generally sucked.

Basically, it was the same as every other morning show.

When I was in high school and worked at KNC, I'd play whatever the fuck I wanted and ignored requests.

Actually taking more requests is something that the station needs to do...though not if it means playing fucking jam bullshit. That stuff is very popular and has its place, but ten minute masturbatory guitar pieces have no place on daytime or evening radio.

i've requested songs multiple times that any college radio station worth their salt should have and they didn't have it.

now either the dj's are lazy or your library really sucks. i'm guessing it's a little of both.

the problem with the library is that people have stole alot of the stuff. Over the last 25 years most of the 80's music we should have we dont because its been taken or lost. Refilling would cost way too much $$$$$$$$$. So yes the library is lacking but there isnt much that can be done right now.

also, alot of the music people dont like in day time is being filtered out and replaced with new stuff. I might start post all of the new stuff that is being put into the computers. I just put in some Two Gallants, Die Princess Die, Heros Severum, Richard Hell and the Viodiods, New Sonic Youth, TV on the Radio, Chad Van Gaalan and some other stuff I cant remember. That was yesterday. This stuff should start in rotation today or tomorrow.

and as for afterhours, we have tons of dj's that want to do that so its not going anywhere. And as of right now we have 40 dj's training and our shifts should be full. We will start firing peopel who dont show up to their shifts.
