ok so my ac belt tensioner has blown into two pieces, well this was right after this really annoying clacking sound. so i get a new one, throw it on the lift and install. along with a new belt, ya know u got to do it rite. so the next day the fucker is clacking again and i figure advanced just sold me typical shit. so i go to chevy get a oem one, cause i got that kinda cash now. i check to make sure the ac comp isnt frozen and it spins with some pressure, while the clutch is engaged of course. all back together and then today the fucking junk is clacking again. shit looks like everything is inline and on the up and up. my junk has me pondering the solution, and i mean pondering the fucking charleston heat with no ac. any ideas on a problem?

what size belt you running? If you got one a little on the loose side, is the tensioner clacking against the stop?
There are at least two different size belts available fer that hunk of turd. One's for the 105 amp alternator, the other's for the 130. They're not that much different in size (like 0.7 inches in circumference). Leave it to the jizzmoppers at Advance to give you the wrong shit. 9/6/2006 12:40:17 AM |

i think there is only one belt size because it only rins the ac comp, it doesnt touch none of dem other moving parts. the clacking is from it slapping the shit out the stop rapidly. i am almost to defeat and gonna drop it off to the jizzslobbers at the stealership. i know i know not the stealer ship but right now i just want some fucking ac 9/6/2006 12:43:29 AM |

Dumbass that I am. It's the 4-groove belt. You sure they picked the right size? You didn't get the cheap-ass Drive Rite belt did you? 9/6/2006 12:45:25 AM |

Get a good belt. The right size. It's worth the extra beans. Take two aspirins and call me in the morning.
In the meantime, nitey-fuckin-nite, man. 9/6/2006 12:49:37 AM |

my 01 silverado does that shit all the time, i've been through two tensioners since i've had it and a belt at least once a year, and it always sounds bad, you learn to ignore it after a while, i never noticed it until about 120k miles, but its slowly gotten worse in the last 65k, still not sure its not something with the compressor 9/6/2006 6:32:11 AM |
