well....i think many people agree that the show jumped the shark around ~s13

the problem has been the comedy, if only they could stay consistently funny.

season 1 was good, but season 2 was a disaster. very serios plot lines and no humor.

so many people dont think the peak was that early.

I'm sad that we didn't get to meet Mrs. Fat Tony and to hear that she died sometime between season 8 and now.

Although Michael Imperioli (of Sopranos fame) did the voices of one of the generic gangsters and mentioned his ex-girlfriend getting whacked.

I laughed at the plot tie in.

I did enjoy the whole Sopranos tie-in. Especially with Chrissy & Ralphie's voices involved. That was pretty damn funny and a bit unexpected.

It will be a sad day when they decide to call it quits, but I hope the producers do it before it gets pulled. It would be awful for such a great show to die in such a way. They should go out gracefully, with a bow.

^^ the only way to go out gracefully is to go back in time 10 years and kill all of the writers

they would just bring in new writters. you think we've got the same ones? conan obrian was responsible for many of the early epsiodes, for example.

"Matt Groening's Simpsons vow

Monday, 11th September 2006, 14:34

LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - 'The Simpsons' creator Matt Groening has "no plans" to ever stop making the hit animated TV show.

The declaration comes as the cartoon - about a dysfunctional family in Springfield - started its 18th season on US television on Sunday (10.09.06).

Groening told CNN News: "My attitude at this point is, as long as the people who work on the show are having a good time, let's keep doing it.

"We've always tried to entertain ourselves and figured that the outside world would be entertained if we were making ourselves laugh."

'The Simpsons' - which recently won its 23rd Emmy award - will make its big screen debut next summer with the first full length movie.

Rather than claiming the glory of the show's continued success for himself, Groening insists it is the writers who have ensured the series' longevity.

He added: "There's a really good-natured spirit of competitiveness among the youngest writers on the staff who basically grew up watching the show and have a great memory for everything that's gone before.

"The current staff are determined not to be the guys who caused the show to crash and burn, but they also want to try and top what has gone before.

The landmark 400th episode of 'The Simpsons' will air on US television next May."

I don't care if it's not as good anymore. They can't stop making it. It should be on forever and ever and ever.

Of course the Simpson will be on forever. It whores itself out so much to EVERYTHING from cheap boardgame ripoffs to blatent ripoffs of games like GTA and Crazy Taxi. They will keep making it as long as it breaks even.
