Call Canton when he's been good for more than last season and (potentially) this season.

i don't know. he's got a shot right now, but i think he may call it quits before he makes himself a lock. coughlin really helped his chances though when he came to new york. tiki has developed into a much better back than he was back when fassel was the coach.

i think ronde probably has a better shot at making it than tiki. (the ring certainly helps)

changing the way he holds the ball was the turning point.

He went from fumbling more than TA to pretty much not fumbling at all.

no shot. he's in this class of RBs, who were pretty good, but will never make it to the hall.

Ricky Watters,
Eddie George,
Fred Taylor,
Jamal Anderson,
Duce Staley,
Stephen Davis,
etc.

he needs at least 4-5 more outstanding seasons before he could make it to the hall. And honestly, I don't believe he's the best RB on his own team this year...

He has a way better chance than every single person just named

^^ Dude have you even seen Brandon Jacobs run and move. The guy is a freak and I was think the same thing that he might be better than Tiki. Tiki is certainly faster and has better hands, but Jacobs looks like the real deal.

^ Have you seen Jacobs either. Just because he doesn't have 4.4 speed doesn't mean he isn't a badass. The dude is a linebacker with running back skills. His hands aren't as good as Tiki's, but Tiki is one of the best receiving RBs in the game so that isn't a huge putdown.

If Tiki was so badass too, why the hell was Jacobs getting so many carries in the 1st game? Obviously Coughlin sees the talent too.

Tiki has sick field vision
he is fast as hell (ACC champion track member at UVa)
he doesn't fumble anymore
he is an amazing receiver
he is an on-field coach
he has mad respect from his teammates

what more can you ask for? Ron Dayne, Jr. will not pan out. he'll end up being a 3rd down back then play for the Broncos in 5 years

Brandon Jacobs does have a similar build and running style as Larry Johnson

does "getting so many carries" include touching the ball 3 times less than Tiki?

^ Yes it does. I was implying that considering how good Tiki is, Jacobs getting almost as many touches as Tiki tells you something about his talent. How many other elite backs have backups getting as much burn as they do? Not LJ, Alexander, Portis (when healthy), LT, etc.

I'm not trying to say Tiki isn't great, but Jacobs is damn impressive and some of you jackasses act like he doesn't even exist.

i'm a giants fan.

i have been following this kid since we drafted him.

he's got tons of talent. you just fucked up by saying that tiki is not the best back on the team.

So somebody saw Brandon Jacobs play once and now all of a sudden he is better than Tiki. Not even in the same league

This is not the case. We (giants fans) all love Jacobs, but seriously, dont be ridiculous

I liked how every time Tiki carried to ball he patted the guy who tackled him on the head, and even helped up a couple of the guys who tackled him, all the while with a smile on his face

he seems like a nice guy who loves the game of football, and I am willing to bet that he does a lot for the community both in NY and in Va

jacobs is a hell of a back. no doubt about that.

i just don't know about tiki making it into the hall. he's a great back, but i mean where do you draw the line?

i think if he wants in the hall he's going to have to stick around til he's physically unable to play anymore, and continue performing at a high level every year until that happens (a la curtis martin). by then, he may rack up enough sheer yardage to get him in by default.

the one place he is really lacking though is touchdowns. he could continue playing for another couple of years and break 10,000 yards rushing, but he'd still be at around 60-65 TD's in 12 seasons. compare that with the numbers of a sure hall of famer like shaun alexander (89 TD's so far in 7 seasons) and LT (73 so far in 6 seasons) and he comes up short.

i think if he wants a shot at making it, he's going to need to last 3-4 more years, rushing for 1000+ yards and 8+ TD's in each of them. and even then i doubt he'd be first ballot.

there's just too many great RB's of his time. you can't put them all in the hall.

^^yeah that's what i was getting at. being 4th on the all time rushing yards list = HOF.

tiki would have to do something like that. i don't know, if he plays 2 more years, breaks 10,000 and wins a super bowl (plays well in it), i could see him getting in eventually as well.

too bad that won't happen

I think he has a good shot, but if he makes it then you have to include Eddie George too.

None of the other guys on that "list" have any shot in hell.
