Anyone else playing? really bad ass WWII RTS. probably the most realistic of the bunch and the most entertaining.

Awesome game, but I don't like the balancing. Infantry becomes basically useless once you get tanks. Either infantry needs to be more effective vs armor, or vehicles need to be much more expensive.

not really. Sticky bombs or using rangers owns tanks. Mine fields etc...its pretty realistic in that sence. you aren't going to destroy a bunch of tanks with just one squad. you would need to flank it and it would also help if you had anti-tank guns. Also tanks are pretty expensive....90 fuel and 420 reserves for one M4 Sherman is pretty steep...not to mention its like 620 reserves and 100 fuel for Panthers.

and then you have artillery strikes, 178mm(?) guns you can deploy with your engineers for free artillery strikes.

It is 420 for a sherman.

But it is 400 for a sqad of rangers. And even though the rangers are supposed to be anti armor, the one tank beats the sqad of rangers almost every time. Its like playing rock paper scisors where rock beats everything.

well yeah, that makes perfect sense if you go head to head. same thing happens when you take on a MG42 head on. thats why you have to flank it and hit the tanks from the rear

It is a pretty cool game.

I totally didnt expect a mine to make the jeeps skid out of control on 2 wheels. Pretty awesome.

Its got me rehyped for Total Commander.

Yeah I know that in reality a tank would kill 6 dudes.

But a tank is also WAY more expensive than 6 dudes in reality, and in the game it costs the same, that's all I'm saying.

i think its well balanced. if $$$ was a resource in game then yes, tanks would be way more expensive...but $$$ is not...so i think its setup right.

cool thing is you can pan the camera down to ground level so you are right there with your soldiers.

yeah, the camera features are really fantastic and makes it even look better...however, you wouldn't ever really play it that close up of a view. this game does an amazing job of capturing the atmosphere/feel

I haven't played it that much but I'm at Carentan now and I can beat it but just by throwing waves at the Germans... I need to actually try and play it with some strategy..

It's a pretty badass game though..

Relic has easily passed Blizzard and all the rest as the greatest RTS company. Homeworld, Dawn of War, and Company of Heroes, who can stand up to that lineup?

BTW, DoW: Dark Crusade is awesome, you should try it out if you haven't. It's a stand alone expansion, so you don't have to have the original game to play it.

yeah, i started playing it again. Its awesome. Trying to beat the campaign mode on expert. Its hard as hell. Failed twice now on the mission where you have to defend caratan(sp?). I get to about less than 5 minutes left before all my forces are over run.

i know it sucks...but turn down your graphic settings to the lowest and decrease your resolution. Game looks awful but it will at least run smoothly.
