im thinking about buying a car thats out of state i found onlne.
did a carfax, am getting tons of photos, and have a guy in miami that will drive up to ft. lauderdale to check it out.
anyone ever done something like this?
what else can i do to be sure it goes as planned and im not getting ripped off.
i would hate to buy a 1-way ticket down there and then not like the car=stuck 9/14/2006 10:53:14 AM |

i have done it....i bought a one way ticket. went up on friday, looked at the car and then drove it home. if i didn't like it, then i would have gone back to the airport and waited for an open flight back. get good digital pics, take it to a dealership and pay to have it looked over....its worth the price. 9/14/2006 11:21:58 AM |

i bought a car from texas and did this
i had a guy check out the car for me called "the auto critic"
where he does a 150 car inspection and also test drives the car it cost me $200
he sent the report to me and then i bought the car and had it shipped to raleigh
it turned out to be a great car for a great price 9/14/2006 11:36:21 AM |

do your research
carfax
get lots of pics
pay to have it taken and checked out at another dealer / garage for an unbiased opinion
negotiate a price after you get the results in writing of the inspection
fly down and test drive it yourself or have someone you trust do it
pay to have it shipped if you want to keep the milage off (got mine in phoenix)
oh and be prepared to pay the sales tax when you register it in NC (3% of the purchase price)
basically dont waste your time until you are sure its worth making the trip

i do what jnpaul does.
i find a really stringent auto inspector and let them have at it.
works out well. 9/15/2006 8:41:52 AM |
