Brown was a bad color choice, and if they're ONLY coming in 30GB, well, wtf is up w/ that?

I dig the widescreen though, and the WiFi tidbit is very cool.

I'll still take the iPod (whenever it goes widescreen-touchscreen), though.

Brown: never saw that coming. I guess the "shit" puns can commence...

i actually like the brown. plus maybe fewer idiots would ask "which ipod is that?"

i'll wait for dimensions, and price before making a real prediction. and they should have a size larger than 30gb.

^^^Oh yeah. It launches today huh? Where can I buy one? How much does it cost?

Until I can go down to a store and look at one it's all just more speculation. And it's hardly worth calling someone a dumbass over.

So let me get this straight.

You make a thread about the latest iPod offering and that's all cool and !!!1

But linking to a post about the specifics of a completely new player that no one really knows terribly much about, is ?

Gotcha

From the link he posted:

Quote :
"As expected, Microsoft is busting out the Zune today, and we've got the rundown. Not a lot of surprises in the specs department, but they've confirmed the basics we've known for a while, like WiFi, 30GB of HDD, built-in FM, a 3-inch screen and the basic music, pictures and video playback. They also finally let slip the screen res -- an unsurprising QVGA"

I was just saying there was not a whole lot if any real new information here. I saw the post at Engadget too, but hardly thought it was threadworthy at this time, seeing as how there was a substantial discussion about it months ago and no real new info has been released.

I also like how noen jumps on my nuts about this being all new, and he has the first post in that other thread saying the same thing I did. Hypocrite much?

he hardly jumped on your nuts. and in the case of that other thread, he was correct, it was a week old news. the news of today's launch is hardly old.

In all seriousness, why are they saying it launches today?

Are they having a conference later today to announce pricing and availability? Will it be available for purchase on a website somewhere later today? Will it be shipping to stores to be sold later this week?

This is a genuine question.

Highlighting an article doesn't change the fact that the launch was today.

You lose sir.

I mentioned this in the iPod thread, but why can't anybody seem to come out with a Ferrari red player? Neither Apple, and now, nor Microsoft. That would be an awesome color.

Just from the inside (seriously), Engadget landed an exclusive interview w/ Microsoft's corporate VP about the Zune

It'll hit the Engadget front page later today. Book it.

That might upset me if I didn't already have the same opinion about you.

But seriously, no one is gonna answer my question about what actually gets launched today?

A product launch doesn't necessarily mean that the product is shipping to end users.

A product launch can mean that the company is officially revealing the product to the world.

There are actually several launches in any products lifespan, of which the end user is aware of about two.

No you're actually not correct at all.

The launch happened today and the official specs are being released. Since this hasn't happened prior, then it is "new."

The official pics were released today; what is so hard to understand about that?

There's a difference between being an asshole and being (just about) frustratingly stupid.

I'd let you try to figure out which side of that divide you're on, but you'd probably get that wrong too.

You've yet to say how I've been stupid. My entire argument is that there is no new information that we know today that we didn't know yesterday and the best thing you can come up with to counter it is some mock pictures of the UI, and the fact that it will be available in brown.

EVERYTHING besides that we knew already.

lol the Apple ads on the Microsoft writeups are hilarious

just FYI, I feel the site is licking the balls of the Zune a tad too much, but it'll calm down once the launch is out

I think they're going all out on it just for traffic reasons

I liked a lot of what the corporate VP said, but it's pretty gay that it doesn't support PlaysForSure.

Looks like I'll be holding onto my Sansa.

looks badass...and i love the menu (with the images for a BG)

oh btw...the software/music store for it...is that like iTunes or is it like Napster?

i.e. pay per song or pay per month for unlimited.

If the specualation from months ago is correct () MS is planning on buying everyone with an itunes account away from apple. i.e. if you've bought a song on itunes, they'll give you credit for buying it from them on their store.

Their store will be its own entity I believe, like iTunes but from Microsoft

The lack of PlaysForSure support is really retarded.

The store will offer a la carte songs AND a "Zune Pass" that works like Napster's currently monthly fee to download unlimited tunes.

Oh but wait guys, no need to talk about the SERVICE either because apparently we all knew they were going to launch these service options. OMG SO OLD.

Nacho: You need to learn the difference between a hard launch and a soft launch. AKA nVidia/Apple product launches, versus ATI/Intel launches.

How does it navigate? IS that thing a wheel or d-pad like device?

What frame rates/resolutions of those video formats does it play back?

What other functions does it have?
