Quote : | "KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Injured defensive tackle Justin Harrell will start and be a captain in his final game at Tennessee, coach Phillip Fulmer said Thursday.
The No. 13 Volunteers host seventh-ranked Florida on Saturday.
Harrell surprised his coach and teammates on Wednesday by putting off season-ending surgery to play against the Gators.
Harrell was ruled out for the season after he ruptured a tendon in his left biceps in last week's game against Air Force. Doctors said he could not make the injury worse, but he will require surgery next week.
"I think he'll play as much as he possibly can," Fulmer said after practice. "He was a little bit sore from yesterday's practice, but that was expected. I bet he'll play quite a bit, but I don't know."
Harrell is one of Tennessee's best defenders and a team leader.
The Vols had altered the starting lineup because of Harrell's absence, but apparently that change won't be necessary.
"I'm not going to put him on the bench. He'll start," Fulmer said.
The Fulmer has said he's unsure about how much Harrell will be able to play.
Starting tailback Arian Foster might not play because of a sprained left ankle.
"We'll see. It may be one of those game-time deals, and that's the truth," Fulmer said. "He did more than he did yesterday and ran some plays. ...That's a bad position to have an ankle injury."
If Foster can't play, Montario Hardesty would start in his place. Foster was hurt in last week's game.

Props to the guy, but he should just go out for the coin toss, play one snap, and then let someone more capable take over for him. 9/15/2006 2:03:59 AM |

Tenn always wins when people expect them not to (Cal, Florida in 2001 as a 17 point underdog, LSU last year etc), but I just think 4 starters out will hurt too much. Really really hope I am wrong 9/15/2006 2:16:00 AM |
