JESUS CHRIST !!! you guys are some cry babies- There are like a dozen " we need a new coach " threads already.....
Everybody blames the coach- Once your realize that losses are not 100% the responsibility of a coach and at least 80% players not following assignments and connecting as they should you will then understand the sport 9/16/2006 11:50:35 PM |

whos responsible for recruiting players that can follow assignments and connect 9/16/2006 11:56:11 PM |

well first of all- the "Head Coach" is not soley responsible for th recruiting process as there is a staff designed for that as well as a budget.... secondly, you can have all the talent in the world and not play well as a team (not because of coach) because of players them self-
look at the Dream Team---
don;t try and argue this one as you know that my statement is true.... people just look for someone to blame 9/16/2006 11:58:46 PM |

well, its obviously someones fault lol...and im not saying its solely chucks responsibility, but it is the coaching staff, they need to recruit players that can be a team 9/17/2006 12:00:30 AM |

i thought a coach's job (especially in college) was to teach players to learn to play as a team? if the coach has no control over how the players play, what exactly is his job and why do they get paid millions of dollars? 9/17/2006 12:02:24 AM |

um- i highly doubt he Chuck get paid Quote : | "millions of dollars" | - and yes one of a coaches jobs is to get a team to play like a "team". But for those who have played ball how often is the HEAD COACH a huge part of teaching your assignments. You spend 70% of time with O & D coordinators- the head coaches responsibiliy is to formulate plays, call them, understand opposing teams offense and defense conveying it to the coaching staff underneath and then hope all goes well...
look at someone like Joe Torre for example coaching the Yankees- yes they are doing well now but look how poorly they have performed with the Best of the best in the lineup- is that his fault?9/17/2006 12:13:30 AM |

big difference in coaching the Yankees and coaching a college football team.... in the professional level of any sport, the coach is not so much there to teach as he is just to manage the team and be in charge... college coaches are suppose to be teachers and bring in players and teach them to play together! On top of that, bad play calling and a misunderstanding of opposing teams offenses and defenses has been a huge part of our failure the past few years. I'm pretty sure no team in america is paying its coach any amount of money to sit on the sideline and "hope all goes well"... anybody could do that! 9/17/2006 12:24:13 AM |

i think its time to come to face it that we do not have talent...we always think we do but we truely dont anymore...sure some players are athletic, but theyre dumb as hell so they offset9/17/2006 12:27:20 AM |

exactly- i don;t want to crush anyones dreams here but NCSU football is a half rate program- it just is!
^^w/e man-i agree with and disagree with and lack the energy to debate it anymore- fact of the matter is you cannot blame Chuck for everything.... and btw: the responsibilities (in game) of Joe Torre far exceed that of any college football coach-
i mean hell- i could pit OSU against NCSU in a game and u people would say it is the coaches fault we got beat... u gotta keep it real at some point and accept that your team is not that good 9/17/2006 12:39:56 AM |

u still can't compare apples to oranges.... and btw, we have had far too many first round draft picks the past few years to not have won anymore games then we have, and although you can't place it all on the coaches, a lot of the blame belongs to them!
I said nothing about us having a team that would beat OSU, but we should be beating Akron and SMU.... those have both been big time upsets 9/17/2006 12:49:44 AM |

eh- akron was but southern miss has a solid squad. and yeah you have had some first round draft picks but only one that comes to mind is Mario Williams who is severely over rated (and u know it) and look at how he is progressing to the rest of the top 10-
god damnit- why did i get involved in this... i need sleep- i quit 9/17/2006 12:58:16 AM |

One thing we can give O'cain credit for. to want Rivers to play as a QB and not a tight end like every other college wanted because of his goofy arm throw. 9/17/2006 7:13:32 PM |
