A more sobering topic than the rabid reactions to the loss...

Anyone know Blackman's story, details about his knee, picture of the hit, something?

I'm just interested in what the future of one of our current most productive offensive players entails.

Sorry to hear of it happening to him.

From what I read :

Quote :
"Perhaps it was a bad omen for the Pack when on the opening kickoff receiver Darrell Blackman, one of the team’s most productive and most versatile players, injured his right knee. Blackman, who did not return, will undergo an MRI exam on Sunday."

Actually I hope he is ok, I had a torn ACL and it sucked pretty bad.

Quote :
"NC State football coach Chuck Amato said Sunday that sophomore wide receiver Darrell Blackman had an MRI on his sprained knee Sunday afternoon and will know the results by Monday morning.

Blackman, one of the nation’s premier kickoff returners and one of the Wolfapck’s most versatile offensive weapons, hurt his knee on the opening kickoff of Saturday night’s 37-17 loss at Southern Mississippi and did not return to the game.

Amato also said he and his coaches would meet Monday morning to discuss any potential personnel changes, for Saturday's ACC opener against Boston College. The Wolfpack (1-2) face the undefeated Eagles (3-0) at 8 p.m. Saturday at Carter-Finley Stadium, a game that will be televised on ESPN2.

“We just got done with the film probably 40 minutes ago: offense, defense and kicking,” Amato said in his Sunday evening teleconference with reporters. “We will talk personnel first thing Monday morning. And when any changes in any personnel are made, we will make them then and we will talk to our players before we do anything, whether it is a defensive end or right tackle or whatever.”

“We feel that is the way it should be done.”

Amato also praised the play of redshirt sophomore quarterback Daniel Evans, who led the Wolfpack on a second-half scoring drive and completed eight of his 11 passes for 97 yards. He had a 21-yard touchdown pass to John Dunlap in the fourth quarter.

“The first time he was in, Southern Miss still had several starters still in the game,” Amato said. “He did quite a few good things, we all saw that. He got his feet wet, which is good, and he did some good things, that is for sure.”"

Im fairly sure in his 3rd game he couldn't get a redshirt.

If he is done, what little offense we had is gone almost completely.

i think sterling hicks blew out his knee in the third game a couple of seasons ago and still got a medical redshirt, it may have been the second game though. but i think 1 play into the 3rd game shouldnt really count as a whole game.

Blackman hasn't played 25% of the season, so a medical redshirt would be possible.

I know he's a great kick returner but in case you havn't watched any games this year he can't get open to save his life.

he was open a couple times, and the ball was even thrown to him and hit him in the hands . . . but he dropped it And a few other times, stone skipped the ball off the ground.

It just seems to me that we have better guys in the WR mold. I know he's a playmaker but it doesn't make a difference if he never gets/holds onto the ball.

i completely agree . . . it looks like Bowens could be good, and there were a lot of times where Dunlap was wide open and the ball never came his way

^^Clemson, and they were called back because John Holt couldn't line up on the line of scrimmage.

Well it should be interesting to see how/if things change with a QB who can actually read ALL of the receivers rather than just the #1 option.
