w/ burke and beck both waiting to play next year, i have doubts as to whether or not he'll be the guy come next season. although i guess at this point it's his job to lose. hope he impresses.

yeah you never know. we were in the same boat last year I believe when Marcus Stone took us on that great 6-1 streak that we keep hearing about. Maybe Evans can do something similar. If we go to 1-3 (against BC) and even worse 1-4 (against FSU) its going to be a long year and Chuck might be in trouble.

I think they are twin brothers arent they?

(not identical though, one is taller than the other.)

EDIT: Actually, just looked it up, he is a quadruplet, has a brother and 2 sisters

what's the deal with burke and beck? transfers???? redshirted or what?

beck is redshirting this year because of the ncaa transfer rule. he will be a RS-So next year.

burke is most likely redshirting unless Evans and Stone both stink it up.

we also have a pretty damn good incoming QB, russell wilson from VA. and there's a good chance we will land the 6'6" QB from Harnett Central as well for next years class.

so next year's qb depth chart could look like this:
Stone RS Sr
Evans RS Jr
Beck RS So
Burke RS Fr
Wilson Fr (committed to the Wolfpack. 3star, dual threat)
Cox Fr (most likely ends up with the Pack. local guy, tall, extremely athletic... possible move to TE/WR/DE)

Damn, hopefully this is the last year we have to worry about good QB production. we SHOULD be set for the next few years.

Beck is a transfer from Nebraska, he can't play til next year, Burke is a freshman, not sure if he has redshirted or not.

they should give up on stone as a QB
put him in for blocking and running as another back but forget about leading the team

This is Burke's redshirt year. He will not be playing unless

a) He's the best we've got
b) Everyone else gets hurt

i have always said that Stone would make a heck of a Tight End, hes fast, knows the offense and the defensive holes in the zones and u know he can catch and take a hit, not to mention hes a big guy, we need him at TE

I think Beck's arrival has a lot of fans asking questions. We bring in Burke, supposedly the next intelligent but athletic QB of the future who had a 6:1 TD:INT ratio his last year in HS. Beck is older than Burke by a year, he will be a RS Soph and Burke will be a RS Fr. Does Beck think he will sideline Burke next year? The kid coming in from VA is special to, CTC has obviously started trying to recruit intelligent QB's, a lttle late, but hey, it's better than not. All in all, I wonder why Beck wanted to come here, and what the coaches have told him regarding his potential playing time.

As for the present, with Stone and Evans reversing roles, this was a good move. Will Stone be graduating and moving on this Spring, he's been in the system 4 years? RS senior QB's that don't sniff the 2 deep (for 07, assuming Evans and at least one, maybe both of Burke/Beck are over him) are seemingly useless to the football team??

I think us sucking has a lot of fans questioning. We are just terrible. At least we didn't give up ~550 yards to Furman.

what i said in an email this morning:

Quote :
"we complained about Jay Davis, and now we're complaining about Marcus Stone. soon we'll be complaining about Evans and Burke.

i think we're barking up the worng tree.

- none of these guys is Rivers, and thus cannot adapt to offensive strategies du jour.

- Norm Chow does not work here. we need to give the west coast offense a rest. the right complement to a 2-back set is the deep ball. that's how Marcus went 5-1 to end last year, and that's the point that eludes Trestman. to open up the running game, you have to keep the opposing defense honest by hurling it down field. making short choppy west coast tosses doesn't cut it unless you have someone with laser vision and an assault rifle for an arm...friendly reminder: Rivers is gone.

- the common denominator is the leadership. i'd be willing to can Trestman before Amato. we're not getting any kind of ROI on Trestman. we've atleast seen intangible benefits of having Amato around i.e. all the excitement despite a downward spiraling record. we need to get someone from the SEC to replace Trestman. OC's in the SEC know how to utilize the speed we've been able to recruit.

- it has become painfully obvious that Amato is simply not a smart man. that however doesn't preclude the team's performance by itself. its not the smartest, strongest, or fastest that win the most. its the most focused and determined. he needs to shape up or the pack will turn on him."

its not marc thats the problem, really

he had to ASK amato if it was ok to put Evans in, no OC should have to do that really if their QB is struggling. I like Trestman, Chuck seems to be the problem.

At least you highlighted "should". Davis was supposed to be a really good QB, so was Stone. I'm more convinced we can take a marginal QB with arm strength and smarts and give him a good/great OLine and make him seem better than he is - ie Jamie Barnett.

I have a feeling that this offense was too complex for a dumbass like Stone to run. I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of creativity with it was either A) to dumb it down for him, or B) he was changing plays because he couldn't remember the schemes.
