I know we aren't nearly done with the year...

1. Lucky Number Slevin
2. Hard Candy
3. Thank You for Smoking
4. Brick
5. V for Vendetta
6. Snakes on a Plane
7. Grandma's Boy
8. Little Miss Sunshine
9. Running Scared
10.Jackass: Number Two

I really like my list. It's going to be hard at the end of the year when I have to figure in Borat, Casino Royale, The Prestiege, Half Nelson, maybe Feast,... and a few others that are going to be released before the year is over.

I don't care about how much you think my list sucks, I just wanna know what your Ten Favorite movies of the year so far are.

The only ones that I've seen and immediately known they'd be on my top 10 are Little Miss Sunshine and Prairie Home Companion

Manderlay, despite being a 2005 release, wasn't available here for a ways into 2006, so I'm counting that near the top of my list.

Manderlay
Water
Little Miss Sunshine
Brick
Slither

A Scanner Darkly and Snakes on a Plane would be after that, I guess, but they weren't stellar enough for such a list. I haven't found too many great movies this year. I hope to change this list in a week when I see Science of Sleep.

i was kinda expecting more from slither, i liked it, but not enough.

a little funny, a little "scary", but not enough of either for me

Oh snap, I forgot about Bubble.

Okay, here's my real list, sort of off the top of my head:

1. The Science of Sleep.
2. Brick.
3. The Puffy Chair.
4. Inside Man.
5. Dave Chappelle's Block Party.
6. The Proposition.
7. Hard Candy.
8. Bubble.
9. Friends with Money.
10. Manderlay.

I'd imagine there's a chance of adding Half Nelson, Children of Men, The Fountain, The Prestige, or Marie-Antoinette after I've seen them. And, honestly, if I spend any effort maybe I'll remember more of the films I've seen this year. Caché, which came out in 2005 originally, but in the US in 2006, would be at the number three spot were it eligible. I feel like there's some mainstream movie I'm leaving off, but whatever. There's a few movies that screentest's post reminded me of that I haven't seen (the aforementioned Half Nelson, as well as Duck Season, The Great New Wonderful, and L'Enfant) that might make the list if I saw them.

yeah, def. need to check out half nelson some time this week at the galaxy.

i wonder if the management of the galaxy care to work out some kind of trade.

I mean, there has got to be movies playing that they don't playing that they want to watch (situation i'm in)

Dear sarijoul,
I need to see it again. I can't yet process how much the things I liked canceled out the things I disliked. Mainly, I had ridiculously high expectations.

What is so special about hard candy?

I've seen it and have been thinking about renting it, but the description doesn't sound all that compelling...

And i've never heard of "Brick".

See, I watched Audition on TWW's recommendation, and wasn't impressed, even after I realized what was going on.

I guess i'll pick it up though... maybe Brick too.

This year has been pretty bad so far (until Thursday night when i will be seeing Science of Sleep). Iron Island was really good and LMS was enjoyable. I just havent had time to see shit this year. Ill hit up Half Nelson this week and im so looking forward to The Fountain and Marie-Antoinette

Im just gonna make a top 5 for now:
1.Iron Island
2.United 93
3.Little Miss Sunshine
4.X3
5.Syriana

moron,
brick is really enjoyable, and meagan good and nora zehetner are pretty damn hot and joseph gordon levitt is bad ass in it
clever script but it's borderline "trying to hard to be clever" like ridiculous vocabulary for high schoolers. The writers want to be shakespeare. I really enjoyed the movie though

Hard candy is just awesome. I mean, yeah the subject matter is kinda rough, but when the roles of "predator" and "prey" switch places and you realize whats going on, it's quite a ride... really good script, i couldnt help but constantly laugh at the funny/clever/fucked up things she says.

hmm, me and my roommate might have to go see Brick. Lolita is her favorite book, and I read it a few weeks ago from her suggestion.
