I need help, when my wifi is on along with my bluetooth....my music, videos and any kind of sound skips and jumps around. ??? what is that. It doesn't do it when I have it turned off with an ethernet cable in. I have reinstalled all my drivers and even restored my computer...any other suggestions? please help

are you using an intel-based wireless card in a laptop? there is a known (but infrequent) memory leak that can cause performance issues by chewing up your processor ... go to intel's wireless site and download the current appropriate drivers (not software package) for your brand of card. ymmv with this, but i actually ran into the problem about a month back.

otherwise, check your pc for spyware or trojans.

scroll down and select a "Driver Only Package", windows can manage wifi just fine w/o a bloated intel management software running.

Hey, thanks for the response, it is built in to the laptop and it's not intel-based, i don't think...or maybe it is, the card is made by broadcom with version 4.10.40.0, it says nothing about intel, then again I am not the smartest person when it comes to computers and such, but anyways. Should I try and reinstall this driver?? Thanks again for your help....

download and run process explorer ... besides System Idle Process, what appears to be using most of your CPU? you should click twice on the CPU column to sort by highest usage at the top, will make it easier to find.

if this doesn't reveal anything out of the ordinary it'll also help to know what kind of computer you have and what's inside.

well I did that and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary, I reinsalled my broadcom driver as well and I still have the same skipping sound problem, hp is no help either, it has them puzzled...

with the simple options out of the way, the next step is to backtrack to when the problem started occuring. what were the last few things you installed or did to your system before the sound started skipping?

also, what sound card do you have?

It only does it here at NCSU in my dorm...not at home in Wilmington. Thing is I didn't install any programs and I frequently run adaware SE and spybot along with my norton, so it is no virus. I have some sound blaster audio card...It is so wack I am in the atrium now and it hasn't skipped at all. It only does it in the dorm. I am really irritated about it...do you have anything else? thanks for you help man

i can't tell you without looking at it, so you have to tell me ... what is different about your laptop when you are in the atrium vs. dorm?

- what devices do you have plugged in at the dorm but not the atrium?
- what software (if any) are you running that is different in each situation?

and anything else that might be different but i failed to mention.

well, I have my ethernet plugged in but that makes no difference (plugged or unplugged) I have my printer plugged in but that has nothing to do with it. I have exausted all possibilities...I mean I have no clue really. I am stumped beyond all reason. It plays fine for about 1 min then it plays as if it is playing a cd that has scratches and skips alot...idk man idk. I have nothing plugged in at the atrium and it sounded just fine. Maybe it has something to do with the location?? Maybe interference somewhere?? but where, it has to be some sort...any other ideas...lol this is the craziest thing ever

no idea, it logically makes no sense for it to just start skipping when you enter your dorm ... i mean, does it do it outside your dorm? or down the street as well?

you're going to have to ask someone who can sit down and see this problem you're having if you can't come up with a reason. or, you can put your laptop in different situations that reproduce it ... the only way to diagnose is to understand exact conditions that exist at the same time of the problem and not otherwise. then narrow it down.
