NOT a vet (too loud, Sabrina hates em and is real agitated when i pick her up)...NOT PetsMart (pissed me off, not going back)...but any recommendations for a private pet boarding group that focuses on comfort for pets, pampering, and personalized attention. Possibly a pet sitting group that comes to the house for walks and spends quality time with your pet. Thanks! 9/25/2006 4:11:26 PM |

^^well she's stayed at saps' before that's close enough
^reason i'm asking is because next weekend i'll be out of town and the friend (saps) that i usually get to watch sabrina will be out of town for the same reason...my brother and his wife, which is my main petsitter, will also be out of town. petsmart was my third choice and they've pissed me off...currently she's scheduled to stay at my 4th choice, her vet, but this is mainly for future predicaments or possibly next weekend if a place has either room or availability.

camp canine in cary. I used to work there and I can guarantee your dog will love it if she likes other dogs. They are in the run for only the night and 2 hours during the day. The rest of the time they are playing outside with other dogs their size. No aggressive dogs are allowed. http://www.campcanine.com/ 9/25/2006 4:48:40 PM |

^^ that does look nice. too bad it'd cost me almost $100 to board all 4 of my dogs overnight
i wish i could find an affordable boarding place like that... my 4 can be housed together and $20 per additional dog in the same room is still $expensive$
looks like i'll have to board mine come christmas so i need to find a good affordable place. (not my vet) 9/25/2006 5:35:54 PM |

Camp Canine is nice, the owner Suzanne (I think) is crazy and thinks dogs are people.... but that's good if you want a good care taker. 9/25/2006 5:49:54 PM |

when we take our boxer there, he gets extremely excited when we pull in to the parking lot.
conversely, when we used to board him at the vet, he would start whining/crying as soon as we pulled into the parking lot. 9/25/2006 6:25:24 PM |

Best Friends Pet Resort and Spa. It's $$, but you get your money's worth. Each pet has its own condo and gets one on one play time, etc. 9/25/2006 10:17:40 PM |

they have indoor outdoor runs, so no walks or playtimes unless you pay for them 9/25/2006 10:23:17 PM |

Camp Canine, definately. I used to work there too and no one will treat your dog better. 9/26/2006 11:53:54 AM |

^^True, you do have to pay extra for playtimes, or additional play time, but that's why I said it'd be $$. 9/26/2006 3:01:06 PM |

I can't tell you how many dogs have come in to my work from Camp Canine that have been bit or picked up something while there. Could be fluke coincidences, but you never know.
Other than boarding at a Vet (my #1 choice), try calling local vets and see if they have any pet sitter services. There may be some employees that do it as a side business. If you can't (or don't want to) board with a Vet, at least try to get a friend or someone who is knowledgable about caring for animals to do it. 9/26/2006 9:30:54 PM |

^I dunno about Camp Canine. Although we've been to just about every boarding kennel in Gwinnett County, GA and my dog was either terrified, sick, or starved after every stay at a vet. At a nice one on one boarding only center he was happy as a clam. 9/26/2006 9:58:17 PM |
