Ok. So, when I decided to move into my new house I decided to paint my room... but I didn't go with the easiest color to work with, or just one color... oh no. I went with NCSU red, black, pure white, and metallic silver. It has now been almost 3 months and the damn room still isn't done. My main issue is the edging... I can't do it so that i'm happy with it by hand... and the paint keeps getting under the tape, so I can't get straight edges.
If anyone on here is really good at edging and could help me finish up my room and get it looking awesome, post here! I'll definitely compensate you for your time. I should have all the materials you'll need, but if not that can be arranged, too.
Thanks! 9/27/2006 12:23:47 PM |

You need a short bristle brush for the edges if you arent experienced. You can take your normal edging brush and cut off an inch or two with scissors. 9/27/2006 12:29:28 PM |

Then the tape isn't properly adhering to the wall. Take a putty knife or other thin straightege, and run it down the edge of the tape, and you should be fine.9/27/2006 12:34:52 PM |

ok. by majority it looks like i should try taping again and make sure it adheres well... i try using a small brush and less paint, too.... hopefully it will turn out then. Thanks for all your suggestions so far... keep them coming 9/27/2006 2:40:42 PM |

Edge gaurds work okay...hold it where you don't want paint and then swipe next to it. They are on the paint row at Home Depot.
I prefer tape but some like that better b/c of less prep and cleanup. 9/27/2006 2:54:05 PM |

i tried an edge guard, but that didn't work AT ALL... paint got everywhere it wasn't supposed to... and i don't think the lines i'm trying to paint are necessarily straight at all because holding the paint guard flush with the wall left huge gaps....
maybe i'm just not able to paint... who knows. thanks for the suggestion, though. 9/27/2006 3:09:05 PM |

^ naw, you're right about the paint guards. It only works if the joint between walls is perfectly straight, and they rarely are. I ended up using the paint guide to seal the tape last week when i was painting our guest bedroom. 9/27/2006 3:28:31 PM |
