there were some old (and dead) threads on Daniel Craig being the new bond, but i feel its time for a thread for the movie

trailers: http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/casinoroyale/

looks fucking awesome to me, and looks liket he best bond movie in quite some time.

I had my doubts before I saw Layer Cake.

Daniel Craig is my boy now.

looks like the bond series is reinventing itself again

a lot of the flakiness and cheese from the past two brosnan films have apparently been replaced with a grittier, harsher tone and reality - daniel craig seems like a really cool customer and should be perfect

bitchin' aston martins, stunts on cranes 200 feet up, villains with strange facial scars... sign me up

ps, eva green is smokin' hot

I cant see this movie failing compared to the last few movies. Most people seemed to hate the direction the series was taking.

I'm not sold on this movie till I see it

This movie sounds like it will be my cup of tea.

I didn't hate Die Another Day. It could've been better at parts, but I thought it was interesting that Bond actually got captured and imprisoned for a year and a half. Granted he's been caught by the villains before, but he always had some hi-tech gadgety way out in less than five minutes. This time he was just grade-A boned. I'm no international spy, but if I had to guess I'd have to say that's probably a lot more realistic than invisible cars and casinos made entirely out of ice. The dude's been playing with fire for so long that it's about time he got burned. People might disagree and say "but he's Bond! He's always suppose to have a way out of bad situations!" But when you're a spy, this is the kind of shit that you have to accept as an occupational hazard. I dunno, I'm personally just tired of seeing an invincible Bond, the bad guys' bullets always seeming to conveniently miss him, etc. I want to see a more vulnerable Bond, a Bond that actually has to face some kind of actual danger and not rely upon deus ex machinas to bail him out. Being a spy does not mean having missiles flying out of your car and making as much noise as possible, being that conspicuous actually means you suck at spying. Save that shit for action flicks.

ohh, and in case anyone hasn't noticed, it's being directed by the same guy who did Goldeneye.

goldeneye was easily the best of the new bond movies.

It says this movie is before his license to kill, so does this mean it is suppossed to be the beginning of Bond? Kind of like Batman Begins?

November 17th release date for those who don't go to the link.

The book Casino Royale was the very first apperance of James Bond. It was written by Ian Flemming. So yes, this will be like Batman begins

Bond movies aren't action flicks

they're supposed to by spy movies--which do have some action

the novels don't even have that much action. the majority of the action that is there occurs in the last third of novel usually.

Connery started out doing spy movies, Moore made the films laughable, Dalton went back to Connery and Fleming but had shitty story lines, and Brosnan was a pretty good mix of all three of them. Lazenby's movie was the most true story to the novel, but he didn't play Bond, he played Connery playing Bond. I think Daniel Craig is going to be a grittier than Connery and Dalton and I think that's a bit worrisome. I just hope he doens't come across like an asshole because that's not who Bond is in the novels. In the novels he's just cold, emotionless at times, focused on his mission and very comraderous around his very few close friends and allies--not some renegade asshole that breaks all the rules and pisses everyone off to get things done.

the bond movies dont' really follow the books

so its like double the adventures

this one seems like it will follow the same type of events, just in an updated fashion

"the novels dont have action"

sorry but i dont think any novels really have action. i mean i dont read. but i cant imagine text in a novel reading: "and the boat explodes. As Bond swims away another boat comes by and shoots at him. Then that boat explodes when it runs into another boat."

that's not what i said

the is action in the novels, but obviously not as much as in the movies

its there and paints a pretty clear picture of what's going on. from car chases to torture scenes to escape scenes, etc. they're all pretty detailed without being boring and long and drawn out. you can actually feel the intesity of the situations. i was pretty impressed actually.

The World is Not Enough

"Who is in charge here"
That would be me, Dr. Christmas Jones, and I don't want to hear any jokes
"I don't know any doctor jokes"

"Welcome to my nuclear familiy"

"I was wrong about you"
How so?

you gotta watch The Dreamers (Rated NC 17). It's her first movie, and you get to see plenty of her... plenty
